Wimbledon will get to decide who they invite to play at the premier tennis tournament in the world. Very similar to how the US golf Masters works at Augusta and that has turned out very well for them.

Ehh, if people are being kept out by a travel ban it makes sense to make the event not count on a ongoing points system.

This is more about ego politics than anything else.

The royal family does not want a picture of the Duchess of Cambridge handing the trophy to Daniil Medvedev. Russia will use that as propaganda, it will make the Brits look bad. So they are removing the potential of that reality from the equation.

I don't think the other Slams worry too much about that.

Everything in this world is as simple as "'fer" or "agin'".

The organizations are just doing their job. I'm sure, like FIFA, they can be trusted to know what is best for their sport and never let other "considerations" enter into their decision making process.

Meh. It's a players union.  This is expected and reversible.

Huh. I didn't think Russia could afford to pay anyone off, right now.

Eh, it's fine. Not like ITF points matter nearly as much as Wimbledon results.

How many Olympics has it been that the Russians have made a mockery of the whole "neutral athlete" thing?  At some point you gotta take a stand.

You can always count on the IOC to take a $tand.

Sure, except it's not a union. Players are independent contractors, always have been.

/the PTPA is trying to become one

So does this mean that if a player does well at Wimbledon, they won't get any points applied to their ranking because Wimbledon won't have any points to give?

Exactly. Now if they don't have any farks to give they not only won't invite the Russians, they will leave a few top players out and replace them with local club members. Just to be fair to everyone.

They are covering this as part of the current tournament. One of the side effects of the no points decision is that it could based on losing points from last year, put a Russian player at number 1 post-tournament.

That's correct.  They can't spare a point , they don't have a point to spare.

MBS "bonesaw" is starting a golf tour  to support dictators and people with no morals or ethics. ITF should just have MBS be the tennis tours sponsor so it is clear what tennis stands for according to the tennis federation

Fun fact: Belarus, the shortened form of Belarussia, in its native language means East Russia.  Just like Paraguay and Uruguay are Spanish for North Guay and South Guay.
/ Guay was absorbed by Argentina in the 50s.
