Sounds terrible. Not all great things are better mixed.

I love jalapeños and oral sex, but always separate.

Everything you need to know about this 'trend' can be discerned by the pic in the right frame:

- Zesty dill and JAMESON?!? The actual fark. The only thing I would mix with pickles of the alcohol variety is vodka. But even then it would be more so me adding pickles/juice to the vodka for bloody marys.

- The man's shirt.

Pickled onions or olives in a martini.

/Alcoholic pickles should have enough electrolytes to cure your hangover before it starts
//Still need water though
///But if you eat enough to start a hangover I think you'd be mighty thirsty anyways

I had only one room temp can of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer. So I pour it into a glass full of a half a jar of pickle juice.  Amazing.  And refreshing

Here's a crazy idea that may just go virile:
booze in a cold fresh watermelon!

2022-05-22 8:19:08 AM
Soaking food in booze is not new. I'm pretty sure that as soon as someone came up with a reliable way of making alcohol, another person was soaking fruit in it. The people on TikTok who think it's a new, genius idea grew up on Google and they're too lazy to look anything up.

Kitchen ceiling cat is watching them macerate.

It's like every other "viral TikTok trend" - the mindless quest for attention tokens is the only thing that's important. And as soon as one stochastic hiccup has gotten a few eyeballs everyone does the same thing with tiny random differences that don't have to make culinary sense. They just have to get a measurable number of views for any or no reason.

In this particular case ... bleagh. Someone got Views by combining the words Man, Woman, Camera, Person, TV. Sorry, that's Pickle Jar, Booze, Fruit, Summer.  Someone else watched it and decided to get Views by sticking the same words in their content farm planter box. Now it's "everyone's favorite" in a home bar burst of flarf.

Of course it will be bad. Irish Whiskey and pineapple spears happened for statistical reasons, not because anyone sat down and considered how the flavors would work together. It could have been Dill Pickles and Champagne or Malört and cherimoya. There was no thought given to balancing alcohol with acid, sugar and possibly salt let alone the Major Flavor Components of what's going into the jar.

If you actually want it to taste good then vodka, brandy, and rum will give you the best overall results - flavor harmony combined with enough alcohol to let the stuff sit long enough to infuse without going bad.

Most people are morons.  Whenever some site is pushing "what's trending now", I automatically turn away.  Why should I care what a bunch of morons are talking about, unless I'm a sociologist?

It looked disgusting.

And like someone said up thread, why ruin pickles with Jameson? Yuck

Kids these days. They complain that they will never be able to afford a house because of student loan debt but have no problem wasting half a bottle of Jameson by mixing it with a jar of pickles.

I like pickles. Love a good pickle in a bloody. I made some great refrigerator pickles just the other day using cucumbers from the farmers market. I don't have the want or see any benefit to marinating pickles in alcohol. I could see maybe cucumbers for some of those fancy drinks that a guy in a vest with a beard and man bun would server you for the happy hour price of $18.

I like a refreshing warm weather drink as well. Used to be, each spring, once it hit 70 for the first time (in MN) I would make a batch of daiquiris. Not like what you see in the bars. It's a stiff slush of lime and lemonade juice concentrate, a little water, some 7up/sprite and rum. Keep it in the freezer and scoop and enjoy. Mmmmmm, good stuff. Now days its hard to find the freezer space.

Growing up in mid Michigan we used to get shots of Jameson with pickleback. It's pretty good.
Of course now you couldn't get me to drink that Jameson swill.
