Snappie, Subbie.

Ban them from fishing for the rest of their lives.

Public fish fry sponsored by cops, donated to the needy, or just thrown in the garbage?

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he doesn't want to work.

Make them clean them all.

My grandfather loved fishing for Crappie, and could he ever catch them.  I remember coming home with 75+ on trips with him. There was no limit, and being an orphan during the depression meant none of them went to waste.

Imagine every time you did your job you would be asked to stop to and pose with a spreadsheet or something.  people might think you were just a wee bit needy.

That's one awesome fish fry, sucks that they'll all be turned into compost.

And to add, wtf is up with the Deeners posing with them laid out on the asphalt?

Shiat just ain't right....

No, teach a man to fish and he sits in a boat all day drinking beer.   😉

Shouldve been made to clean them. Then make them host a fish fry for the elderly and needy in the area. Put them to good use.

Then they'll whine to the government begging them to restock the lakes.

I thought it was the tenet of avid hunters and anglers to only kill/catch what they can eat. As fat as the guys pictured are, this is just wasteful.

The tenet exists, stop with the frothy aggrandizement.

They should put them in boxes and store them in the evidence room until the trial.

Ah yes, let us pose with the fish laid out on the pavement like a drug bust, thus ruining them completely for any kind of consumption by anyone. Conservation at its finest.

Guessing you're not a fan of the five second rule.

I'm going to go way out on a limb and say they were already dead. Can't keep that many fish alive in a bucket. Can't even keep that many alive in an aerated live well.

What ain't right is not following a very generous 15 fish limit. Crappie can get over a pound. 15 fat ones will feed a lot of people. Over 100 is farked up.

All those fish, howeverly harvested, would have been food for somebody. Nobody is taking them for trophy.
The cops turned them into compost, and nobody will eat them.
So they turned what would be perch with lemons and capers into the sludge that oozes out of a land fill.
Bravo..
Bravo

I totally agree...dead or not, my point is they're now inedible.

Dudes messed up, but the pure waste of a honkin' awesome crappie fry is a travesty.

What exactly does the weight of the wardens have to do with it being wasteful? Would it be less wasteful if they were skinny? Not following your logic.

Crappie aren't stocked btw. They reproduce just fine on their own, unlike some Farkers.

I take the opposite view. I see a lot of small ones and the other ones all seem to top out at a certain size. This means there are too many of them in whatever lake they were caught in. If you catch that many you could expect to see variety in size, including at least one or two large ones, if the place you're fishing isn't overpopulated with fish. I'm 100% positive my uninformed and completely uneducated explanation of what these photos show is correct.

I've never heard of wardens donating confiscated fish. Filleting 119 crappies is a farkton of work. Not sure even a soup kitchen would want them.

The ritual of wardens posing with their haul has been a thing forever. I interacted with many while fishing over the years. As long as you follow the rules, they generally leave you alone. Have seen people cited and equipment confiscated and have seen even more people let go with a warning. Warnings usually went to people fishing without a license, but with no caught fish.

Nah, a huge fine and public caning.
Followed by a 5 year suspension from being able to fish.

No one has said the obvious yet?
Fine. I will.

That was a very, very crappy story.

It may not be poaching but i hate the situation of old people with free or practically free lifetime licenses spending every day catching trout. Catching 2000 legal trout a year that are only supposed to be used by the immediate family means a great many of those fish are given away or sold.

One poster said crappie aren't stocked. they are. A quick google will find hatcheries both commercial  and run by agencies.

Cool, it's actually in the article.

Poaching. FOAD, see you next tuesday.

I mean, they had to photo all the fish anyway as evidence if the person contests it in court.  I don't see the big to add pose in the picture for a memento.

I understand that because of cops, Fark kind of starts frothing at the mouth for every law enforcement officer.  I don't like policing in America at all, but people like game wardens and park rangers and whatnot are usually pretty different than cops.  You usually go into those fields out of an honest desire to go good.  If you just wanted to do the whole AUTHORITAAAH thing, well, you'd be a cop.

WTF good is that going to do?  They've already shown complete disregard for authority.  Confiscate their trucks and throw them in jail for a few months.  Let them have to finish paying off those loans for trucks they no longer own after they finally manage to find work flipping burgers.

$25 fine for going over.

Per fish.

Most, but you do get some, "Couldn't pass the classes and checks needed to be a cop" types.  Depends on what the requirements are for wardens wherever - they vary a good bit

They're just laid out like that for the photo and then that is the evidence. The fish were always going to be thrown away.

But now I'm wondering about all those pix with tons of drugs. Hmmm
