FTA, a shooting center owner was saying kids start taking lessons as early as 7, and by 15, they are able to hunt on their own. Seems like an entire nation of marksmen and hunters is probably best left alone.

raping the women and committing all kinds of atrocities.' This claim is borne out by contemporaneous accounts.

Finnish is the most modern language and the most difficult to master.  Slavshya, White death.

Do not fark with Finland. Ever. It's a country of drunk rifle wielding maniacs that can and will drop an invader at 20 to 1 ratios on a hangover. Oh, yea, the USSR may have "won" the winter war in so far as they got some territory, but the cost of it was astronomical all things considered.

the First/Winter war was na russia pulling the same shiat all over again. claiming they "just wanted a bit of land" but really they wanted the whole damn country. League of Nations kicked them right the fark out.

Finnish soldiers are trained to fight in the country's difficult terrain, which has 188,000 lakes and is 75 per cent forested and covered by snow and ice for much of the year.
The Russian army, as we have seen in Ukraine, seems hopelessly incapable of adapting to such alien conditions.
During the Winter War, the Finns took full advantage of this ineptitude, waiting for the Red Army's lumbering columns to advance along icebound roads before ambushing them from the woods. The Russians were inept skiers, and from their forest lairs, White Death and his comrades would laugh as they watched them slithering about.

good, good.

I'm also pretty sure Finland went for peace with the USSR simply so they could go back to their crates of beer because the shakes got too bad and they ran out of insults without starting to repeat themselves.

Seriously, I asked a Finn to just go on a swearing diatribe once, it went for 15 minutes before a repeat.

Okay, but the language itself is much older. Plus, Cherokee wasn't written until 1821, and it was one of the first writing systems used in a Native American language at that. Plenty of languages in the world don't have a written component at all.

I just don't understand what "most modern language" means at all, let alone as applied to Finnish.

One of my favourite scenes from a space : above and beyond episode was showing a Finnish squadron and everyone cheering. They were better than the Wild Cards , better than the Angry Angels , and so on. Their fate was not revealed but I am sure that they died with honour .

Even after the curbstomping Ukraine is putting on Russia, Putin still hasn't learned what "fark around and find out" means, though if he decides to step foot in Finnish territory, the Finns will take great pleasure in teaching him.

Russia is big enough people mostly live south of those areas.  Like Canadians, the average Russian probably isn't used to Finland winters.

Of course there's probably Siberian residents who could wear shorts and flip flops in a blizzard, but an average Muscovite recruit? Perkele.

Before the gunturds start squealing about "THIS is why we have a 2A!!"

No.

The citizenry of a nation arming itself against a probable invasion by the despot of a nation with which it shares pre-established legally recognized contiguous borders ≠ the citizenry of a federation of loosely held territories arming itself for the dispossession of aboriginal tribes & against foreign colonial rivals with which they share heavily disputed boundaries.

Quit creaming your Underoos.

How about, while doing that we also mirror our requirements around owning guns the same. Didn't do a stint as a part of the army from 18-60? Fine, no guns.

this is almost exactly probably why you ain't generally see gun-crime in Swissland or you other furriner countries. got a gun in the house? sure, because you earned it and the state damwell wants you to hold onto it. and for good reason.

It's definitely a cultural problem.  The Finnish have guns for hunting and national defense.  Americans have guns for shooting people who piss them off, and hunting mostly appears to be an excuse to buy firearms as penis compensators.

I'd trust gun control more if there was a liberal law enforcement that was capable of seizing said guns away. Instead, we've got Cletus Confederate's buddies (the cops) in charge of that, and they're not about to disarm Cletus.

The only way that right wingers will ever give up guns is if they were severely outnumbered by liberals with them, and that's not happening anytime soon.
