"Controversial" now means "the CGI isn't finished"?

/Anything for the clicks
//Wanna bet they didn't cut a minute, and just reshuffled what's in which episode.

So She Hulk is getting three more episodes than other MCU shows, but one less than they want.

Rumored at ten.

I wouldn't be shocked if for scheduling reasons they just made two episodes into a longer season finale episode.

You aren't kidding. I had to read the article twice to get what the hell they were even implying.

The show is CONTROVERSIAL! Except no, there isn't controversy, there's complaints about the CGI in the trailer looking cheap. And OMG, they CUT IT SHORT! But no, they just aren't delivering 10 episodes as they had previously said they might, but settled on 9 episodes instead, which still puts it up there with WandaVision as one of the longer MCU shows.

I'm annoyed that I gave them a click. They won't get another one from me.

Have you ever seen a live play?  SOOO unrealistic.  Awful special effects.

Story trumps, what's on your screen is just how it is presented.  If the story is good enough, they could tell it with stick figures.

The series should be as long as it needs to tell the story it wants to tell. That could be 1 episode or 100.

And that writing, dear lord it was non-stop panic and hyperbole.

"Nonetheless, the CGI present in the official trailer is turning heads for the wrong reason, while the official episode count is shocking others."

Wow, yes, I'm SHOCKED at the episode count. We're all stunned! People are aghast!

I mean, early rumors said 10 episodes, and now the official count is 9.

THIS IS SHOCKING!!!

But then I read the comments and saw the audience they're writing for ...

So the studio puts out a statement that contradicts rumors, and that's cutting the series run short?

It was good enough to be watchable.  As I said previously, if they got the story right, that's good enough.  If it's more about the spectacle the CGI could bring... it won't be.

We shall see.

I think that one of the good things about reactions to trailers like this is that it has a pretty good track record of actually affecting output in a positive way (See: Sonic).

I didn't particularly hate the CG, but I wasn't looking that closely and I have shiatty vision.

Hell, What If? pushing an unfinished episode to season 2 created a weird situation where we didn't have a proper intro to the Gamora variant and her Infinity Stone destroying device.

I find it ironic that Marvel is finally going all in on the books I read as a kid, yet somehow managing to make me hate each adaptation more than the last. They farked up Captain Marvel, they farked up BP, they farked up MOKF, they farked up Iron Fist, they farked up Luke Cage, they farked up Moon Knight. Now, farking up Werewolf By Night is probably 100% unavoidable since it's such a stupid property to begin with, but maybe Marvel should try and skew a little younger than the early 70s books.

Nah, they just adapted them in ways you didn't like. Just imagine it like a different continuity/universe like every time they run an alternate imprint such as Ultimate or Superior or Old Man or any of the variations. And skewing to 70s books means they can adapt mostly dead properties and reinvent them and also draw interest to the old properties and renew interest in them. Moon Knight (which absolutely had some worse runs than anything MCU did) has been one of the most read series on Marvel Unlimited since the show aired and after.

I can take or leave the Arrowverse and Titans never interested me, but Doom Patrol is f*cking amazing. It kinda has ruined all the other streaming superhero shows for me, because nothing else comes close to it for both absolutely bonkers storylines and richly drawn characters.

Ok, so I can see not being completely in line with Moon Knight. And I get the hate for Iron Fist, which was kind of a train wreck. And I can even see not being a huge fan of Captain Marvel, even though it was actually a fairly good movie. But not liking BP and Luke Cage? Those two Marvel absolutely nailed perfectly. BP was a boring movie  of whose characters had stupid motivations. Wakanda politics were beyond stupid, and the physics of the CGI sequences screamed "fake", especially the very predictable " vs. Nega" boss battle.  It was heavily promoted because it was 'important' because the cast was mostly black.  That didn't make it a great movie.  It reached 'mediocre' at best.

Luke Cage failed because it killed its actually interesting villain half-way through the series.

My Black Panther wasn't "Wakandan Iron Man" for one. Jordan absolutely hammed it up for two.  And 70s Luke Cage was Shaft or Superfly, not some woke ass Tyler Perry barbershop hanging milquetoast nice guy. Plus, not nearly enough punching.

BP's only real problem was that it should have been two movies. There was too much backstory and worldbuilding that needed to be crammed in, and it would have flowed better if the two combats for the throne had had more space between them. It also suffered a little from the necessity of having non-stop comic book battles when a more sophisticated approach would have been more satisfying (Captain America 2 had a similar issue), but it wasn't such a big deal because you knew that's what you came to see.

And yes, BP was shamelessly cheated on its effects budget, and aside from the final fight looking unfinished, the depiction of Wakanda should have been far more awe-inspiring and vast. But BP easily had one of the best casts of any MCU movie, and they smoothed over almost all of that. (Ok, Martin Freeman was a major weak spot, but everyone else was stellar.) The loss of Chadwick Boseman was an incredible tragedy, and it's one that the MCU is still struggling to work around. Boseman was planned to be a much more central figure in the new phase, and without him, they don't have a comparable screen presence to build around. It's like if they'd lost RDJ right after the first Avengers movie.

BP deserved all the love it got. I just wish it had gotten more love from the budget bean counters during production.
