Slightly more seriously, even a casual perusal through the Chick Tract catalog shows at least two (probably three) distinct art styles, so this doesn't really surprise me. It would be neat to see a list of who drew which tract. However, TFA does say that Fred Carter was the...mastermind...behind everyone's favorite Chick Tract, The Last Generation.

Many years ago, when running for the train, I would pass a bank of pay phones. On some magical days, there would be a Chick Track atop each phone. When it was one (or more) I had not seen before, it was a real thrill. I would enjoy the new track(s) on the train, while looking forward to sharing the next day with another guy in the office who enjoyed the lunacy as much as I did. Good times!

At first read I missed the word 'second' in the headline and assumed Ben Garrison had finally come out of the closet.

From TFA:

In 1974, two years after Chick and Carter started working together, they launched a comic book series called The Crusaders, featuring two heroes who vaguely looked like them. Tim Clark, the white hero, is a former Green Beret. Jim Carter, Black, is a former drug dealer and street fighter trained by Black militants.
The interracial duo went on adventures for Christ. In the first three issues they deliver a microfilm Bible to Christians oppressed by Communists (and convert a female spy sent to seduce Tim); rescue a town overrun by child-sacrificing Satanists; and come to the aid of an African political leader whose government has been infiltrated by Communists.
Graphic novelist Daniel Clowes discovered The Crusaders as a boy and called it "one of the sickest comics I've ever read."

If you know anything about the work of Daniel Clowes...yeah, that's quite a statement.

Jack Chick tracts scared me as a kid. Then I grew up and they were mostly ridiculous. So over the top!

The 1st internet forum I was on had a thread making fun of Chick. One very funny girl with the alt Ralphie was the best at rewriting the script and photoshopping it into tract images. One she did showed planets and stars, and what looked like God bowling. I wish I could remember Ralphie's caption, something hilarious about bowling stars.

Some are just basic, boring standard fare, depicting popular Bible stories.
But the best for heathens, to make fun of and/or cringe at, are the comics on the Rapture and the Apocalypse-- The Rapture ones are pretty dramatic, or melodramatic. Also cringe-worthy are the ones negging on Catholics, Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, and other christian sects. Anybody that disagreed with Chick's narrow-as-fark views was a target. Chick also hated Halloween, fortunetellers, the occult, fun.

The religious characters are smug as fark, while the evil characters might as well twiddle their evil mustaches they are so hammy. Usually there is naive characters who are either convinced and converted, or they reject Jesus and horrible stuff happens to them and they burn in Hell.

All tracts end with a call for sinners to ask forgiveness for sins and accept Jesus as your personal savior.
