Cocktails are so 1970s. Didn't have any special glasses back then, don't have any special glasses for various beers.  Other than a brandy sniffer, I don't see the point and I don't like brandy.

WTF!?! None of those should be in a highball glass.

I drink everything from a 16oz pint glass. Some mornings I have one full of coffee and another full of beer.

I'm calling BS on those wine glasses.  Cool looking, but certainly not designed for wine.  I can guarantee a Chardonnay is going to taste weird in those glasses.

I have a mishmash of glassware: old fashioned, glencairn, champagne glasses, coupe, assorted shot glasses, an old Pom juice glass that's as close as I have to a highball, etc. I have a problem with buying glassware just because I think it looks neat. If I'm drinking wine, I use heavy water goblets because they're sturdy and damn, am I a klutz.

I felt like an adult when I finally acquired champagne flutes. I still love their shape and elegance.
They're in a box in the garage with all my other glassware. I live with a man who is a menace to anything with a stem. I'd rather have him around than some hand-painted goblets that make him feel guilty every time he breaks one. We don't have the cabinet space, anyway.
There IS a man-sized box in the garage to remind him of the choice I made.

And seriously, can the Moscow Mule fad die already?  Are they going to insist that you have coconut mugs for Piña Coladas?  Or those super-skinny things for a Pousse Cafe?

Honestly, I kind of hate martini glasses. The shape leads to lots of sloshing and spilling of the booze. Some that have a particularly deep v shape are all right, but most I see are just too shallow. And that's before we even get to the fact that most of the ones I see in stores are hideously oversized. I prefer to have martinis in a Nick and Nora glass or a coupe.

Flutes are just for showing off the bubbles anyway, not for improving flavor/nose. A regular wine glass is fine for sparkling wine, and a "vintage"-style shallow-bowl wide-mouthed stemmed glass is even better.

Nonsense.  The shallow glass lets the bubbles dissipate too quickly.

I've never really had a problem with sparkling wine going flat. I guess if you left it out for a few hours, it'd eventually happen.

To be clear... I have LOTS of glasses, Whiskey/highball, SO MANY wine glasses, little Lowenbrau branded beer sipping glasses... My family has always embraced the drinking... Here's a thing I got from my Grandmother on my 18th birthday (though she surely had it since it was new):

Daiquiris I could see. Not the blender nonsense, but like actual old-school daiquiris, like Ernest Hemingway drank.

I don't have a lot of fancy stuff, because I'm poor, but I do love using different glasses for everything.

(My liquor supply is very low right now, so don't judge. Booze is expensive.)

Large water goblets up top, along with shot glasses and a couple of big wine glasses a couple gave me that were left over from their wedding. Stemless martini glasses, coupes, my favorite wine glasses, and cordial glasses (turns out I drink a lot of liqueurs). Down on the bottom, old fashioneds in nice shapes and colors (navy blue and pink). I do make a lot of cocktails (when I have the booze), so it's nice having some options.

I do consider it acceptable to open the bottle of vermouth and waggle it suggestively in the direction of the shaker or glass

P.S.  "gin martini" is redundant. A martini IS gin and vermouth. Any other abomination calling itself a martini is an assault on the English language, decades of alcoholic pedigree, and common sense.
