Red states aren't prepared for a post-Roe baby boom.

It might cause the opposite. These states will drive the youngers out and no one will be left. Especially if some of the companies leave to find less asshole states.

Put the babies in private jails and profit!

2022-05-20 12:21:07 PM
Well, no. Of course they aren't.

It's all about popping out those babies no matter what the cost and punishing those slatterns who dare to have sex without God's permission.

What happens to the baby after they're born is irrelevant.

"What we're facingas a country is hundreds of thousands of births, probably disproportionately located in the states that have been most limited in what they do for pregnant women, infants and children. So this is the great paradox that we are dealing with," said Sara Rosenbaum, a health law and policy professor at George Washington University.

The cruelty is the point.  Why do people not get this?  Why do they keep assuming that Republicans give a tinker's fart about anything other than themselves and advancing a religious doctrine of Evangelicalism (that they themselves fell no need to follow)?

We need to start treating them like the boil on the butt of humanity that they are.

To be fair, they're not ready for elder care either, but hey, the folks who matter will be in Florida by then, right?

I wonder how long it will be before we see stories about Republican politicians taking kick-backs from back-alley abortionists.

That's where all the mothers will be, when they abandon the kids to work for money to feed them.

Infant mortality rates are gonna skyrocket. So will deaths from pregnancy complications. And if women survive all of that, a miscarriage can result in a murder trial.
Conservatives consider this a "success".

I did this over 25 years ago.  It was my way of breaking the cycle. And not having to worry about finding work or a bite to eat as well.

Well, they aren't pro-life (it's really anti-choice), they want the baby born then if it dies they don't care, if the woman dies during birth, they don't care.

These red-state shiatholes are about to get a WHOLE lot worse. Their infant mortality rate is going to spike and be the worst in the world, they are going to have babies starving (like when their representatives vote against getting formula so they can blame Biden), and they are going to have a spike in homelessness because people cannot afford to raise a child.

It's going to be like a dystopia movie playing out in real-time and it's going to be horrifying to watch, and then these idiots will vote the same people back in office and pretend everything is going fine like they've been doing for the last 40 years while their states circle the drain.

/cut off their federal funding and hurry up their failure so we can rebuild and move on with progress already

The red states poised to ban or severely limit abortion already tend to have limited access to health care, poor health outcomes and fewer safety net programs in place for mothers and children.

Why it matters:

someone out there needs that explained, Axios?

Wait until your state bans abortion AND birth control.

What's the point of using that stupid "block states" map here?

The "block map" doesn't even solve the issue of representing population properly, and that isn't even a problem in this article. Just show a map people can relate to and quickly understand.

We'll get a divergent society. The have nots with little education, little healthcare, and a life expectancy in the 40s. They will be kept in line with religion. The haves will live in gated communities, have world-class food and healthcare and live well into their 80s. The Eloi and the Morlocks

They. Don't. Care.

Cruelty is the point and now they get two for one in the cruelty department.

Their plan is, "Let God sort 'em out."

And so, it's going to be disastrous. Just wait until all the Red States are crying for federal aid to help deal with the problems they caused themselves.

Taxes will need to go up in the Red states to build all of the new schools that will be needed by this 'baby boom'.

Hell, a lot of them don't even really care about abortion beyond its utility as a proxy for other awful policies that are harder to sell to normal people.

Red states are gearing up for mass exodus on multiple fronts. Everyone who's any flavor of LGBTQ+ that has the means or opportunity is going to take it, and I imagine a lot of women are also eyeing the escape hatch. Most educated persons are going to look at a place like Texas with it's failing infrastructure and decide also to not go there, businesses will not be able to operate there without knowingly taking a hit to their work force, taxes be damned.

The people left behind will be those who are unable to escape, have family ties, or are True Believers that want to bring about the Republic of Gilead. No matter how you cut it, that's a state in decline.

I'm pretty sure that their intended victims care tho, and it's a lot easier to buy a gun in a red state than most other places.
If women know that no matter what they're going to either end up in jail or die...then why not take a few conservatives with them....

If Blue states had any sense they would pounce on this immediately. Loudly promote their states as a place where people want to live. They're already known as "liberal elites" which is just fancy-talk for "educated" and who doesn't want an educated work force that isn't looking to move elsewhere?

Blue states can't handle any more population influxes.

Like seriously, housing is so expressive BECAUSE of the amount of people here already and supply doesn't increase at a sustainable rate.

Sure, if they're into rape I guess. My point was that they can't get laid now with both of those things legal. Do they think this is going to make it easier for them?

Good news, kids! All you have to do is take whatever money you can scrape together at your $7.25/hour job (if you even have a job), ride a bus or a train or a plane for a few hours to a place you might not have ever been or know anyone there - you might not even have housing lined up, for all we know - and try to make it in a big city without being Jurgis Rudkus'd (or worse), with zero guarantee of success and (again, we don't know your story) no safety net!

// it, uh, may not be so easy for a lot of folks
// and since we're almost necessarily talking about underprivileged people in the first place...

Well, no shiat. They don't care. They figure those poor sluts shouldn't have had sex if they didn't want to get pregnant. Newborn babies will be issued with bootstraps (for which their mothers will be charged, obviously).

They think there will be a baby boom? lol.  The plan b pill can easily be ordered form the internet and sent to peoples houses.

Or women will take a home test them be going on vacation to states where abortions are legal and just not tell anyone.

They really have not thought this shiat out.
