Went to High End Popular Restaurant on Saturday at 7:00pm. Hostess did not immediately acknowledge my presence. I had to wait almost 20 seconds for her to return from seating someone else. They were unable to sit my party of 10 simply because I did not have a reservation, and forced me to wait 20 minutes.

Each of my party had a substitution request, but they they said they'd have to charge me for simple things like instead of getting fries for a side, I wanted two eggs, one poached, one fried with crushed almonds on top. They said they only had slivers. How hard is it to go crush them then?

I asked for my steak to be extra medium, but they only cooked it medium. I sent it back 3 times before they got it the way I wanted.  The last time they told me they weren't crushing any more almonds for my eggs since obviously I wasn't going to have a cold side and sent the eggs back too, to be redone.

The server seemed to have a problem with me. He didn't say anything or act rude in front of me, but I could tell by his body he was rolling his eyes when he turned away, and I saw him talking to another waiter, so it was obviously about me.

I complained to the manager several time and he eventually offered us a free dessert, and even ended up comping our entire meal, but that is no excuse for poor service.

I'll look at the 1 star and 5 star ratings first.

Usually the 5 star ratings consist of bot posting a few variations of "Great!" And "Works well".

The 1 star ratings are usually just morons that are expecting the product to do something it's not designed to a knife that won't open a can, or a wood saw blade that went dull because they used it to cut metal.

To the company being reviewed and pressuring the review site, it is. At best, this will be riddled with false-positives. At worst, it will itself be used maliciously.

I'm tempted to call it a solution in search of a problem, but it's not even really a solution. It's just another complete waste of human potential trying to wedge itself in the circle of grift.

Depends - seen a few sites that do have language like that, but any review that goes down as malicious or false has an explanation appended where the review used to be as to why, and what led them to believe that and take action.  That's fine, people do post screaming bullshiat on a regular basis to try to nuke competitors, or just because they like being dicks.  But, "Malicious, deleted!" is going to be abused like farking crazy there's no doubt

/we're talking stuff like, "We don't even have ham sandwiches, and  there are no waiters in that age range here - at all - this is made up bullshiat" paraphrases

Advertising as we know it is, in essence, creating a favorable lie for your product or service.

I struggle to understand why we should give a shiat if someone creates a negative lie about a product or service. And I don't see anyone in the industry spending millions of dollars to crack down on fake positive reviews.

Because one case of screaming bullshiat can start a snowball that rolls right the fark downhill into a mess - and if you don't jump on them now, later on you WILL have the, "Well if it wasn't true you would have said something then!" crowd playing their games.  That shiat is best nipped in the bud, because it's a lot like an iceberg - the damage it can do isn't apparent from what is obvious

I look at the middle reviews. The ones that are "yeah, it's functional, but make sure you can reach it because it needs to be hard restarted occasionally". Something that actually sounds like the reviewer used it. I was going to get some knock-off LaserJet carts, and it had lots of 5 star. That could be bought. But the 1 and 2 star reviews mentioned globs and streaks, which would screw up my barcodes. Maybe good enough for middle school papers, but hardly professional.
