lol... one person. You mean the CHAIRMAN of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee?

Yeah, he's just some dude. Never even heard of him.

You must be a young and/or oblivious voter if you thought Democrats could avoid shooting themselves in the foot.

The GOP has a huge tent, guys, come on over and find out what it feels like to be a real American.

No, but it isn't a good look for them. He can probably win in his current district but he's so afraid that might not that he's going to oust another Democrat. The party leadership should tell him to stay put or they'll disown him. No funding, no backing, no support of any kind.

all any democrat has to do is not be Evil
and hope that there are enough people in the country who are also not evil.

unfortunately i have no assurances that this is the case.
as republicans seem to really enjoy evil in all its forms

violence, hate, anger, lies, racism, sexism, ismism,

WTF happened to you farking snowflakes?
you're only making the case for replacing your demented a$$e$

The problem is that the current leadership of the democratic party has a political agenda that's at odds with the goals of the rank and file, and nobody wants to discuss the disconnect.

People are allowed to criticize Dems being dumb without being Russian operatives, evvuuuulllllll progressives, or BSAB morons.

They're nowhere near as bad as Repubs, but Dems are still people, and people are sometimes dumb, ineffectual, and/or mean.

See, a party that holds itself accountable and debates the best way forward amongst themselves tempers both its collective reputation and the mettle of its ideas. Ideally, you WANT a party that doesn't hamfist things or excuse hypocritical behavior.

We don't, however, live in ideal times, and a failure to come together and present a united front against a single minded adversary spells doom.

Constantly.

One person and it's causing a domino effect in that the option is that a gay, black progressive gets forced out of their own district for the asshole in question's political benefit, or to run against another black progressive to maintain their own career.

Regardless of how you want to frame it, it's a prick move and that he isn't being castigated for it by everyone is not a promising sign.

We're you counting on the media to cover the substantive controversies at issue or attempt to discuss the high stakes if this election with any degree of specificity, or to evaluate public statements with even a passing interest in evaluating credibility?

Well sorry, they've decided to continue obsessing over incomprehensibly superficial process stories and will gleefully continue framing stakes only as they relate to the political parties whose statements will be taken in good faith, amplified, and then thoroughly evaluated for "optics."

if the newly-announced maps are finalized, I will run in New York's 17th Congressional District," Maloney wrote on Twitter on Monday. "NY-17 includes my home and many of the Hudson Valley communities I currently represent."

I understand and respect that. This really shouldn't be a big deal.

Progressive members are not-so-silently criticizing him for suggesting he's a better "fit" to represent a mostly white suburban district.

Yeah, though...that would be definitely be a bigger deal.  Can't you just say, "I'm running to represent where I live?"  Do you REALLY need to indicate that you're a better fit than another Democratic Member?  (ESPECIALLY if there's racial undertones to your perceived appropriateness to the district.)

I'm sure that the fact that he'll be primarying a progressive is just icing on the cake for him. If you believe that the DNC isn't going to heavily put their thumb on the scale in his favor when it comes to funding and campaign support then I have several affordably priced bridges to sell you. Remember how Pelosi and the rest of the Third Way Democrats claim that they always support the incumbent in any district? We're about to see how that promise was a lie intended to keep progressives from winning seats once again.
