I thought they were X because the U filing cabinet for "Unsolved" just got overfull, and X was effectively unused.

People knew. People that no one listens to. People who get called crazy, unhinged, out of touch. People disregarded as theorists as if that suddenly means it's false.

Maybe when your predisposed to believe in a conspiracy, anytime someone tells you "no, there's no conspiracy" that automatically BECOMES PART OF THE CONSPIRACY.
