I found it interesting that one of the wronged people was able to reconcile and continue the friendship but without trusting the other person ever again. Is it possible to have a true friendship without trust? I think maybe she was stuck running into the terrible person again and again and just didn't want it to be as awkward.

I've seen friendships end over the stupidest things, but the why isn't my point.  It's the anger that one party, usually the one that broke the friendship apart, will carry.  They'll be mad if mutual friends don't do the same.  They'll be mad if there's anything they perceive as payback occurs.  They'll be mad if the other person moves on in their life.  I swear it's a level of grudge investment I usually only see when a marriage goes horribly wrong.

Hah! I'll never have to worry about this because I don't have any friends. Another crisis averted.

DNRTFA.

But in my experience, "betrayed" means something like "copied my look", "flirted with the guy I've been secretly in love with but am too chickenshiat to make a move on", etc.

I guess "grey rocking" them comes closest.  Can't change the past, but you can damned well discourage any future.

Fine! I didn't want to say hello anymore either, but I wanted you to know that I'm aware of it.

"That evening, Thunes went to Billie's apartment. The lights were off and Billie wasn't answering the doorbell. Thunes climbed in through an open window. Billie emerged from her bedroom. "I knew by the look on her face that he was there," Thunes says."

I think Billie and Thunes deserve each other. They both have issues with boundaries.

Sometimes a good old fashioned arch enemy is just the spark a person needs to give them some get up and go. You should be sure that they feel worse or angrier than you. Otherwise you can't win.

/I am as proud of the few people who choose me as an enemy as I am of my friends.
