There's an election coming.  Can't upset the independent voters that might vote against you for having a mask mandate

Why would they need to do it again?

Those of who wear masks never stopped.  Those who don't never will.

I'm in Denver. I've kept wearing my mask for the most part, but for the last month or so whenever I look around it seems like I rarely see anyone else wearing them anymore.

At this point it has more or less just become a habit for me, like grabbing your keys and cellphone on the way out the door. But since I'm kind of wary of things that make me stand out, being the only person in the room wearing a mask does make me feel a bit awkward.

The soviets referred to people on the left that they could dupe into doing things for them as "useful idiots." I never imaged the same idea would apply to a virus, but here we are. There are too many useful (to the virus) idiots for any meaningful countermeasures to be carried out by the government. It's everyone for themselves at this point.

Wear an N95, that fits your face and doesn't leak at the nose, or get infected.

There's no shortage of N95s any more. There's no reason, at all, to wear anything less.

There's also zero reason for them to be single use... even hospitals, the absolute kings and queens of waste, admitted that "single use" N95s are solid for at least 24hr of use in normal environments.

Exactly.  My wife and I will continue with masks, etc until a month goes by without anyone dying of COVID-19.

To be fair, it's exactly like capitalism.

You don't have to work. But, life sucks because every thing cost money.

We have to construct the same LIE. We're not forcing you to wear a mask.  But. Life will suck otherwise.

Not sure how to do that.
