Gee, who could have guessed that disinformation would attack a thing created to stop disinformation?

2022-05-18 12:43:05 PM
This was an almost unbelievably dumb idea from the start, and that's why it got shut down.  The government didn't need a new, special office to do this.  Not to mention:

"I'm not sure who to trust."
"Well the Department of Homeland Security says . . . "

Just hearing those words is going to heighten the Bullshiat Threat level to Red.

Joe Biden is getting way more efficient these days. This promise lasted three whole weeks before being broken. It used to take him months to get astound to breaking promises.

It was a terrible idea. But the intent was good! Let's tell people what is true!

The road to perdition is paved with good intentions.

Ha.
Haha.
Sorry for your loss.

What do you suggest doing about the post factual Republican party promoting delusion in America?
When you have people lying about everything and having success undermining the nation, you have to make changes.

because he's grandpa.  he was the safest of the safe pick, his son not withstanding.  And being a nice guy that cares about others is obviously next to satan to the right.  I'm surprised he has called them out as much as he has,and it hasn't been nearly enough.

None of this should stop Biden from having advisors who fact check quotes and ideas.

Addressing disinformation should be a goal across the board.

The fact that they announced the name but did not announce exactly what the board was going to be doing creates a vacuum for critics to claim it did every fascist thing under the sun with no real method of rebutting it.

It wasn't a terrible idea, but the announcement and rollout of it was horribly done. They were so mum on details, that it gave the Republicans carte blanche to make up whatever they wanted against it.

That would be an entirely different thing than the fact checking that normal people would like to occur to save our nation from the willfully ignorant, considering that the failed former President is a major source of disinformation.

Biden still believes that the trumpers will behave themselves and Republicans act in good faith.
He's not going to stop the lies.

Republicans will always make up whatever they want. They went reality-optional long ago, and all but a handful opted out completely. There's nothing normal people can do about it other than fact check these grifting idiots as they lie their assess off about absolutely everything.

It would probably start that way, but that kind of power just begs to be corrupted.

But forget that. Let's say it works great.

Coin toss odds that we get a Republican president in 2024. You really want to toss the GOP the keys to that kind of power?

It would be the exact same thing no matter what side does it.  Do you really not understand how this would have been terribly abused

"you can't do it, because we might be able to do it later and we would abuse the hell out of it".

Yeah, not really the "own" you think it is.

As much as Republicans cry about false flag operations I fully expect to see them attempting to conduct their own over the coming months... because as we all know: Every accusation with these dumb farks is an admission of guilt.

The one bit of solace I take in it all is that I know they'll be just as bad or worse at that as they are at every other criminal enterprise they try to do.

And then I realized how much people farking suck.

Ahh, to be naive again.

Did the DGB even rule on one question of fact?  What good is the board if they dont rule what is true and what isnt.

Hell, have them rule on a softball.  Have them come out and say Hunter Biden laptop was and is russian propaganda and anybody mentioning it outside of saying it is russian propaganda will be gitmoed.

Get a couple of good rulings under the belt, and a few dozen more guests at gitmo and this thing might actually work.

Unless you're planning to repeal your 1st Amendment, and/or until you find some hyper-aggressive young Democrats willing to get into the gutter with the repukes, get used to being steamrolled by liars and fascists.

The minority lunatic fringe is slowly winning.  And it just seems that nothing is being done aggressive enough to counter it.
