Yes, because we wouldn't want anything of little importance like a sexual assault lawsuit distracting him from football.

With the always necessary caveat of not my area, the sentence quoted states that it was an agreement entered into by both concerned parties. Though it goes unmentioned, the date being moved also means that the judge overseeing the matter agreed with the continuance proposition. This was not something decided unilaterally by Deshaun Watson and those in his employ with no input from others because football took precedence and there are many different reasons that both sides were in favor of this.
