Fix the farking schools we already have instead of, yanno, coming up with yet another competing and equally shiatty school system that simply sucks money from the one that should be fixed.

fark you.

Private education should be outlawed.

Homeschooling, too.

Everyone goes to public school. Rich people and religious nuts don't get to circumvent the system and avoid regulations and they remain vested to the education system we have.

From what I can tell they want to move to charter schools so they can control the curriculum, control who gets educated, and most importantly turn it into a profit scam the same way healthcare and private prisons are.

"Yass' allies, including many who spend or have sought his dollars, argue he is a single-issue donor who backs candidates who support alternatives to public schools."

Big surprise! A libertarian sh*theel who thinks that the slave class should only be given just enough education to know how to read road signs and obey simple written orders from their filthy-rich masters.

The PA GOP primary was intended to hide a bunch of stuff from the public but Fetterman's stroke is doing a bang up job there.

The common thread in Yass' spending? Opinions vary.
Yass' allies, including many who spend or have sought his dollars, argue he is a single-issue donor who backs candidates who support alternatives to public schools.
"It's no secret," longtime conservative activist Matt Brouillette said. "Where Jeff and [his wife] Janine invest their philanthropy and political dollars, they are passionate about getting kids to better schools.

I'm not opposed to private schools. But it sure seems that everyone pushing the private school narrative wants them to be Christian private schools.

Charter schools were invented in Georgia in response to desegregation.  So the pro charter school position fails the klan test, to whit: If, on any side of any issue, you find yourself on the same side as the klan, then it is assumed by default you are wrong.

Rules to live by.

Yass' personal net worth is valued at $12 billion, according to Forbes. And because of Pennsylvania's lax campaign finance law, which allows individuals to donate unlimited amounts of cash to campaigns, Yass can write as many checks as he wants.

Don't ever think you little people have the same single vote as a**holes like this.

HORSES*IT. If you wanted better schools you would put that lobbying money directly into the schools for all.

The rights attacks on public schooling will continue to hurt the US's competitiveness.

At my wife's demand, my kids go to a local Christian private school. The tests they give for admission means they are tough to get into. There are POC there, mainly to help with sports, but they do assign readings like Frederick Douglass and Uncle Tom's Cabin. When my oldest graduated, I think there were 4 friends of his who were gay or bi, and most of the class were atheist or agnostic. Don't lose hope. Kids can smell BS.

I went to a Parochial school through eighth grade. When I transferred to the public school for 9th grade, I pretty much got to mentally take the year off. Most of what they taught in the public curriculum was previously covered in my 6th-8th grades. It was a very liberal education, and they didn't shy away from difficult subjects. I doubt that most of the charter and private schools work that way today. I think my experience, and that of Pharmdawg, are the exceptions, rather than the rule. I think those same efforts and dollars should be directed towards improving public education. For example, I can remember many of my early teachers, especially in math, science, and geography. I can only remember a couple from high school, and those not in a good way. The teachers that I remember cared about the students actually learning what they were taught, and if the students didn't understand, tried alternative methods to get a concept across. The forgettable ones were just going through the motions to get a pension.
I left the Parochial system an avowed atheist. Pharmdawg is correct about the BS detector.

Yeah, you're doing it wrong there...

Yeah well, I can only argue with someone who will change their mind. She also voted for Trump, I'm sad to say. But when she was young, she was HAWT, so...yeah.
