Well I think that's the last of viable 1980s TV shows to be cannibalized. Unless they want to tackle Manimal.

Replacing Lee Majors and recapturing the kitsch that made The Fall Guy work is a tall but an achievable goal.
Replicating the magic Markie and Heather brought to the show, is damn near impossible.

I was going to recommend a Hunter movie, but I thought better of it.  There are two things wrong with a Hunter movie in 2022.

1.  Hunter shoots about 3 people an episode.  If he was a real cop, he would constantly be on leave pending an investigation.  It would be a cost-saving measure to just give Hunter early retirement and pay him double his salary than to deal with the constant lawsuits from all the people he shoots.
2.  We can't have Deedee going undercover as a prostitute for the flimsiest of reasons.

A reboot of Hunter as a foil to Blue Bloods is what we need today, right now!

Maybe a TJ Hooker reboot.

T.J. Hooker - Ultimate Intro

This summarizes the appeal of TJ Hooker.

1.  Shatner doing stunts!
2.  Everything is exploding or on fire.
3.  Heather Locklear wearing a bikini/going undercover as a hooker/undercover as a stripper
4.  Shatner on the hood of a car.

Seriously though - Highlander had multiple sequels, Fast and Furious has almost depleted the number of cars available, GOT ran out of source material and had to make stuff up, Harry Potter had to start digging up random references to make movies out of, and the Jurassic Park franchise has been around long enough for the dinosaurs to start developing opposable digits - and nobody can come up with a fresh take on Automan or Manimal?

Hell, 50 Shades of Grey had two movies, and that crap's just fan fic. But no, Hollywood can't think of a new take on Max Headroom.

Otherworld.  I'd love to see that given some love.

As a kid it impressed me, as an adult I tried it and thought there was quite a bit of room for improvement... But the idea of a family getting kicked to a dystopian parallel Earth?  Decent premise.  It could be something.

Since you brought it up, I just want to take a sidebar to say that The Highlander is an awesome movie with an awesome soundtrack by Queen and awesome cinematography, a film that was specifically written so that it couldn't have any sequels. Yet here we are.

Anyway, I don't know what Automan was even about, I was a little young. I know Manimal was about the guy from Jaws 3D  who could turn into any animal in order to fight crime which is of course the greatest premise ever.

Automan

was Tron developed for television, except that instead of going into a computer, the program could leave the computer to fight crime. And only at night (mostly). His sidekick was Cursor, who could create any mode of transportation. It's Tron as a buddy-cop series.

And yes, it was exactly as cheesy as it sounds. And it was glorious too.

I wanted the Rock and Kate UPTON, , and failing that Zoe Bell Chris HEMSWORTH for the gender swap version

But I will finally accept that my Fall Guy movie will be made. It's the most obvious goddamn premise. A stunt man, that catches bad guys. He's around hot women. It practically writes itself.

I loved that.  It was The Highwayman.  It was like MASK turned into live action.  The semi on the left turned into a helicopter and the one on the right turned into a super-fast car.

They were supposed to be out in a futuristic wasteland solving crimes or something.  It had a very short run.  It didn't make a lot of sense.

The Highwayman.

The premise was the same as every other 80s vehicle show.  Lone drifter rights the wrongs.  For some reason they decided to throw a battery spokesperson even more annoying than a drumming rabbit into the show.
