In the future, our robot overlords will regard Mars as that graveyard planet where sadistic humans sent helpless innocent robots to die.

That is why they make us work in the mines.

Oh, I know this one.   They find "fossilized" (different kind of fossilization because mars has different atmosphere than earth) evidence of life from the time dinosaurs roamed the earth, but all life on Mars went extinct.  Around the same time dinosaurs went extinct.
