Why?

Well, maybe a little disappointed that they didn't go into full Brownshirt mode, but perfectly fine with them. If anything, this kid was their perfect patsy.

I go back and forth on whether they should own up and admit it or go back to being ashamed to admit it.

Real shame where they hid themselves from the public might be best.

Regan gave us the Southern Strategy. Stir up whites in the south and get them to vote Republican. Trump and the MAGA have weaponized it. It has gone from race-baiting to generate turnout to counting bodies. I'm not sure if violence is a way of manipulating the ballot box or if it is easier to fundraise off of (both). This is terrorism either way.

If they are truly afraid of replacement, the conservative right should probably figure out why their loudest youth are self-identifying as incels (which sort of blows up the "involuntary" aspect of it) and think girls are icky.

I really don't get the whole "replacement" idea.

I'm white, and I'm still here.  Will I cease to exist or something?

If all other races combined eventually outnumber whites, what's the downside?  Better food?

You don't understand, man.

I mean, neither do I. "There is no racism in America and minorities have the same opportunities white people do. But we won't let them make us become minorities. For reasons."

No, that was Nixon. Reagan brought in the evangelicals to the Republican party, making the two indistinguishable.

Think about all the examples of genocide and ethnic cleansing you can remember. Think of the violence and forced relocations. Consider the weaponization of laws and systemic abuse that went into all these cases.

What these aholes consider white genocide is that white people *on their own accord* are having fewer children. And a lot of them are *voluntarily* farking minorities and having children they can't consider white due to *self imposed* bullshiat.

How farking entitled must an ahole be to think of that as genocide?

kind of glad they're writing the words.

Conservative media amplified the message.

Republicans have become more explicit about embracing the actual words, helped by the amplification of Fox News, particularly prime-time host Tucker Carlson. Rather than implying it, as many on the right previously had, Carlson is explicit - even if he denies somehow that he's talking about the "racist fantasy," as he called it.
But just look at his words:

"I know that the left and all the little gatekeepers on Twitter become literally hysterical if you use the term 'replacement,'" Carlson said in April 2021, "if you suggest that the Democratic Party is trying to replace the current electorate, the voters now casting ballots with new people, more obedient voters from the third world. But they become hysterical because that's what's happening actually."

The theory doesn't make any sense without racism. You have start by  believing that all white people are on the same team and are competing with all the non-white people. So if there's a smaller percentage of white people your team is losing. It just so happens this works great for conservatives as it also explains why so many of their policies are unpopular without just accepting that their ideas suck.

You don't go back far enough.
LBJ's civil rights legislation would not have passed without the support of liberal and moderate Republican votes to counter the racist Dixiecrats of the South.
Sadly, those Republicans have gone extinct, while the Dixiecrats have mutated and spread across the country.

The Southern Strategy predated Reagan by about two decades. The beginnings of turning the South from a Democratic stronghold to a Republican one started in the late 60s. Reagan greatly benefitted from it, no doubt, and when he spoke at the Neshoba County Fair in Philadelphia, MS and talked about "states' rights," just 15 miles from where three Civil Rights workers were brutally murdered, he knew what he was doing and who he was doing it for.

True, but they were not open about it.  They make no pretenses now.  BTW, as far as the core of the GOP is concerned, they're not going to stop at disenfranchising, women, non-whites and non-'Christians'.   When they're done they'll put those pesky Irish, Italians and Slavs back in their place as well.  Can't trace your ancestry back to the Mayflower?  Move to the back of the bus.  WASP power, baby.

NPR went to great lengths to try to say Trump espouses this Replacement Theory.  In none of the cited quotes in the article did he say that.  Of note is the last concluding remark, revealing that this is the writers prejudice, and it also relates to many Fark forum attitudes.  This is not an objective article.

"And so what he does effectively, I think, is permit white people who may have no overt white supremacist commitments to think about themselves as being discriminated against the same way that Latinos or African Americans may have been discriminated against. And therefore, they have entitlement to some sort of redress. "
