Technically it's a prequel, no?

That's what they want you to think, but actually the requisite "twist" at the end is that origin of the Predators will be explained to be double secret vampires from the future, whose hunts are actually cover-ups for altering the timelines, and only the surviving hero(ine) can finally defeat them and set the timeline right.

/probably not
//somehow, the ending will be worse

Imma let them finish but Apocalypto is the best movie of an Amerindian being hunted for sport of all time. OF ALL TIME.

Meh, i'll probably end up watching it since it's going on Hulu. Couldn't be any worse than The Predator, which is a terrible movie, but a guilty pleasure for me.

Same. I love the Alien/ Predator mythos but most of the movies are written badly.

I think it is to tie in the gun from the ending of Predator 2:

Math 100% checks out. The pistol had an engraving saying 1715, which is almost exactly 300 years ago.

The real plot twist is that all these hunters are the Donald Trump Juniors of the Predator species....

Didn't we just do this a day or two ago?

They explored that in a comic (https://avp.fandom.com/wiki/Predator:_1718) but it would be outstanding to see it onscreen.
