I wish Leafs fans would stop demanding everybody gets fired and trade half the players.  This wasn't some utter collapse, they went toe to toe with the best team in hockey two years running and were a shiat call away from taking that game to OT.  Kelly Rhudys assessment of Saturday is completely wrong and you just have to look at the handshake line and all the times Stamkos or Hedman had prolonged talks with individual players.  When your opponents think you're a contender, then you are one.

Don't worry. MLSE will listen to the fans and blow it all up. And I'll be laughing.

The maple Leafs are back on their true turf now: the golf course.

The NHL has long pointed out that the worst crews don't work the playoffs and that they whittle it down more as the post season goes.  So basically these guys were the least worst of the bunch that made the cut.  Given how low the standard is, that's not a good look.

Yeah, they start with 40 officials (20 referees and 20 linesmen) for round 1. Cut it to 24 total for the conference semis, 8 for the conference finals and 4 for the Stanley Cup Final. And there is a bonus for each round they work so there's incentive to not suck.

My nephew is a Leafs fan.  I watched game seven with him.  We both felt they didn't look right.  Out of sync, poor positioning on both ends (I swear two Leafs players collided on a power play, but may be mis-remembering), too much focus on trying to get the perfect shot and ending up with no shots on some possessions.  They are supposed to be a fast team and at least that night were not showing it much.

Having said that, my nephew isn't asking for wholesale changes, but he definitely wants Holl gone and thinks the contract situations with Tavares, Matthews and Marner is a bit of an albatross on getting depth.  I think he believes Marner is the one that should go.  I don't follow them, so can't really speak.

I made this a many years ago to antagonize a certain poster related to a weather phenomenon of thunderstorms in the province that Toronto is in. The Phil Kessel reference is outdated, but the defense and goaltending still need attention.

Have to be on team no effin' way with Marchmouth.. Saw some suggesting him, Kadri back and Bunting on a line about guaranteed to draw a penalty every shift... That is not especially a type of hockey I want to watch.

The funniest bit of Marchand getting traded to Montreal would be the kings ransom in draft picks and prospects in return. Another Rask, another Seguin, another Dougie Hamilton. Heck, I'd take another Mark Stuart. You can keep your future Tomas Kaberle's.

Rumour has it, Jim Benning was trying to sign Lucic but got outbid by the Oilers. The Vancouver fanbase wouldn't have accepted him here, and he's FROM here.

I totally agree with you about the construction of the team and Hrudey's statements. He is in the broadcasting entertainment business and needed to go to one extreme, and he picked the « rebuild » and « change the core » extreme.

When the Drouin trade happened I said Montreal would be regretting it for years.  Sergachev is about as close as you can get to a perfect 2nd pair defenseman.

We can confirm Mitch Marner was the unfortunate victim of a carjacking in Etobicoke on Monday evening. He was unharmed in the incident and the Club & Mitch are thankful for Toronto Police Services' support. Anyone with information is asked to reach out to Toronto Police Services.

TPS has asked that neither Mitch or the Club comment any further on the details of the incident as this is an ongoing investigation.

Marner? No. Nylander? MAAAAAAYBE. His effort is hit or miss, and that's a problem. Numerous times in the playoffs we saw him lazily skating to the bench as his team is applying heavy pressure. If it's time for the change, get your ass off so the next guy can get on. This isn't a farking public skate.
