I kinda want to see him win the primary. Even Connor Lamb could win the state if that happened.

But I'll give kudos where deserved, he actually had some humanity left in him when he tweeted to Fetterman to get well. None of the other GOP candidates bothered

FTFA: But in the final days of the Republican primary, a third candidate - Barnette, a conservative commentator who has courted hard-line pro-Trump groups - has emerged.

Lol. Her browser history will land her in prison.

BizarreMan: great no, terrible yes

"Great" meaning "big" applied as an adverb to "terrible," yes.

And as always, let them fight.  They'll bite each other's backs until the primaries are resolved, and if we're lucky, the worst of the worst will be The Chosen Ones and be easily identified as such in a way that will make the Dem candidate choices the clearly better options for those who are still on the fence.

He loses half of the point by citing his special medical expertise about Fetterman. I had a horrible picture of the general campaign where Oz "diagnoses" his opponent at every campaign appearance.

He's right about Barnette being so grievously islamophobic that it should disqualify her, but Oz has so many issues also.

oh, trust me, he's a dumpster fire of a candidate.

He at least has some amount of humanity though, which is more than I can say for any of the other GOP candidates

I still don't understand why he decided to willingly jump into a dumpster fire.  It feels like there's so little to gain here and so much to lose.  He could have made boatloads of money writing books and appearing on TV shows, without running for Senate.  I'm assuming that a group of someones appealed to his ego and convinced him to run.

/Maybe I just don't understand the endgame here.

Authoritarian Islam has a LOT in common with authoritarian Christianity. They have the same goals, makes sense they would make common cause against democracy.
Once they've murdered all the liberals, then they can get back to killing each other over mistranslated texts and pottery fragments.

The Barnette campaign did not respond to a request for comment. Earlier in the week, Barnette told NBC News that she did not make the statement, which was still live on her Twitter feed on Saturday, due to an overzealous staffer who is probably also a liberal plant--study it out.

If it weren't for his quackery I'd actually prefer an unqualified tv bozo win the republican primary simply to short circuit the free form craziness and paranoia that's so rampant in the party these days.

I mean, their accusations of voter fraud may well move over to the confession category this November as they do an end run around fetterman and get one of these clowns in the senate so I'm pulling for the least objectionable republican candidate. And I guess even with the quackery Oz is probably the best alternative.

Futurama didn't call this time period the stupid ages for nothing.

I wouldn't vote for her but Barnette is totally authentic which is a good character quality compared to Oz's phony 'look at me shooting guns' schtick.

In an interview, he took issue with a 2015 tweet from Barnette in which she wrote that "Pedophilia is a Cornerstone of Islam." Oz, who would be the nation's first Muslim senator, described the comments as "disqualifying." "It's reprehensible that she would tweet out something that is defamatory to an entire religion," Oz told The Associated Press.

he continued, "everyone knows that pedophilia is a cornerstone of the Democrat Party."

He's running against a black woman.  Why the hell would a black woman ever want to be a republican?

/I feel like republicans just scour the country for the most insane people who fit the normal identity politics that progressives run with thinking that they'll vote for them just because of who they are (Hence the rise of muslim, black, young, and women candidates on the right, amongst others).

Somaticasual: You know you're out of line when Dr. Oz is the voice of moral reason...

The downside to still watching live tv (sports) is that we're subject to all of the political ads.  The ads for the GOP primary have been insane.  The attack ads against Oz and Barnett actually paint them as reasonable people?  Apparently Barnette had the audacity to support the George Floyd protests and also supported the creation of some statue of Obama.  And Oz at some point had the nerve to hold reasonable stances on abortion and the trans community in the past.

But of course both of their responses to those ads are basically, "no no, we're actually crazy as fark."

Mastriano said he supports banning abortion from conception, with no exceptions for rape, incest or the life of the mother.

Wait, he'd rather both the mother and fetus die than allow an abortion?

Yes.
And he is absolutely dedicated to making sure every woman who experiences a difficult pregnancy gets as little care as possible, and dies a painful death.
Just like Jesus said!

Wow. That's an impressive level of lack of internal consistency even by usual GOP standards. "Don't want to kill a life, so we're going to kill that life and take another one down with it."

While they are both being used as adjectives here, any word that modifies an adjective is just as much an adverb as words that modify verbs.

I can't devise a construction in which both Great and Terrible could be used where one would modify the other, but I'm sure there's an example somewhere.

This, as you mentioned above, is not such an example.

Sellouts mostly get money rather than power. You'll never see a black or Muslim Republican setting the party agenda. Far-right-wing white nationalist "Christians" run the party. "Fascists" for short.
