Trial expected to last 2 weeks.

This has been an exceptionally stupid case. From the flimsy evidence strung together with chewing gum & innuendo that's been shown already, I wonder what the prosecution's case will even look like.

I bears repeating that if this one lawyer going to trial really amps up MAGAts over if there was a conspiracy or not, just wait until they see how many people got their shiat prosecuted because of the Mueller investigation. Hell, TFG had to dish out multiple pardons for their criminal behavior on his behalf.

/whatta nothingburger
//does that guy not have a lip, is that why they keep using that weird photo where his mustache is weirdly too long?
///thirds because the GOP is turds all the way down.

It seems like a nothingburger, but let the trial happen and let's see. If a crime was committed then there should be accountability, no matter which side.

So something is going to happen after all.

2022-05-16 10:12:28 AM
The point is not the prosecution or conviction.  The point is to keep the "Russia Hoax"" story alive so Trump can keep saying it's bigger than Watergate and his people can lap it up. An investigation that took longer than the Mueller investigation resulting in a single charge of lying to the FBI?  His probe was supposed to look at how the FBI spied on the Trump campaign and now...the FBI is the victim? Yeahhhhh...

So, just because a DA says you did it without evidence, you should go to trial?  The contention is that the guy didn't disclose his connection to the Clinton campaign - which everyone and his little brother already knew about, so it is like saying Joe Biden didn't remind Mitch McConnel he is POTUS whenever they speak.  But even if we agree that you must be hyper-specific and disclose every connection you have to any person on the planet every time you speak to someone - even then, the guy he was talking about has already said under oath he doesn't remember if the guy rattled off which kindergarten class he belonged to or not.  So, that is the trial you want.  If the DA says you didn't absolutely prove you didn't rob a bank no one has evidence you were even at - trial, because otherwise it is corrupt unaccountability.  Jeez, the fascists must love you.

Like Q, the nothing burger Durham has been cooking for three years will be full of disappoint for a lot of the internet.

Yeah, I observe that the gears work quite well for them.

If you're out there, thanks, James Comey.  From 2016 onward, it's really been worth it.

I expect the trial to involve scales and a duck.

The problem is they are just flinging shiat for propaganda.  As long as they are entertained, they'll keep doing it.

So sure, let this case go forward... So long as there are severe penalties for wasting the court's time with bullshiat when it inevitably is shown that is what this is.

Witnesses for the defendant will be required to thrust their hands into boiling water during any testimony damaging to TFG, Barr, or Putin.  If the hand heals, the the witness was telling the truth.   The prosecution, being in the clear, will not need to suffer the inconvenience of testing the truth of its evidence.

...the possibility of political motivation seems impossible to prove, short of texts or emails to the campaign discussing doing so. This is, hilariously, the exact sort of politicized prosecution TFG was always claiming was happening when the crimes he both committed and outsourced were discovered.

2022-05-16 10:54:29 AM
I'll bet it isn't even given to the jury to decide in the end. After the prosecution rests the defence will make a successful motion to have the case dismissed on its lack of evidence.

2022-05-16 10:55:52 AM
I'm guessing the entire prosecution's argument will just involve saying "Nuh-uh", and "No you didn't" after every answer Sussmann gives.

Between Roy Cohn & Roger Stone's knowledge/speculation about Mark Felt,
I'm embarrassed I hadn't predicted Trump's attention to Comey from a beginning.

But Comey's "handling" of Clinton's emails had confounded me...and still does.
Fair
But
Incompetent
To be fair, I haven't read Comey's book, but then 4/5th of a bureaucrat's self-aggrandizing memoir
of a career climb completed with explanations compromised by what is still classified information
isn't very appealing.

One count of "lying" should be enough to tell you what you need to know about the investigation/trial.

And if this is the case you're using to test whether or not the public is receptive to these types of prosecutions, you know what the reception will be.

No, we have to continue with the completely inane and insane charade that there are still Ethical Standards and Political Impartiality anywhere in DC. Because that's the Glory of Checks and Balances.
TFG figured out pretty quickly that anyone you can't hire or fire as POTUS has a boss you can hire or fire.
The SCOTUS was a slightly harder nut to crack, but thanks to God with a little help from Satan (McConnell), three empty seats were dumped in his lap.

Maybe, just like the uber partisan investigations unto voter fraud that still turned up bupkis, they are going through with this charade just to prove that TFG is full of shiat.

Meh, I don't care if he was on "my side" or not, he deserves a fair trial and if he's guilty and the crime merits punishment, so be it. I won't give anyone a pass.

That said, it seems a rather paltry charge -

"Hey FBI guy, I got this information about some shady dealings you should check out!"

- "OK, but are you doing this on behalf of a political organization against their opponent"

"No, I'm doing it because I think it's the right thing to do."

- "LIAR! You're associated with an opposing political campaign!  How dare you! This means criminal charges!"

/While the FBI should not be used as a political tool, you can't in good faith claim the FBI had a bias against trump in 2016

That's not exactly what is going on here.

According to the indictment, Sussmann told Baker that he wasn't passing the material along at the behest of any client. But prosecutors say that was a lie, and that Sussmann was in fact acting on behalf of a tech executive, Rodney Joffe, as well as Hilary Clinton's presidential campaign.

The issue is not whether or not he was connected to the Clinton campaign.  The issue was whether or not he was passing the material along because the campaign told him to do so.  He told the FBI no, the prosecutor is saying yes.

In good faith, one can claim the FBI's liabilities are historical, pending, and assured.
That might change when Hoover's name is stripped from every building.
Or when as much time and resources to administer what the public has a right to know is less than investigation.

Because he's special.

No, seriously, that's the reason.  Special prosecutors are supposed to have lots of leeway and independence.

Because Biden and Garland see firing him/interfering with the investigation as being not worth the optics, so until Durham says his investigation is completed they are letting him work.

Genuinely shocked Durham hasn't tried the "I go where the evidence takes me" and announces he is investigating Hunter Biden's laptop now and dare Garland to not allow him to do so. Starr was 3 or 4 scandals deep into his investigation when Lewinsky came up.

Done in one. Their case collapsed in the press weeks ago. With the weak, contradictory evidence it should never go to trial.
