We all love collectibles and now the hottest item may be wall-mounted statues of some of the greatest names in rock, such as Lemmy of Motörhead, Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses, and AC/DC's Angus Young.

I was looking at Funko Pops the other day. Don't judge me. I heard there was a Frank Zappa one and had to get it.

Anyway, I saw Angus Young and I thought I should buy him because when he dies the price should go up and I could cash in - and besides, AC/DC is cool!  Really, I hate people who buy collectibles just to sell at huge profit and I've never done it myself. I paid ~$10-15 for Jerry Garcia. I saw it online for $150 last week.

I bought Zappa and passed on Angus Young, but there was a Lemmy I was very tempted to get too. In fact there were at least 4 different Lemmys. I only wanted to get one but I didn't because I spend too much money on crap like that anyway.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, this is a song that warns you in advance that next year everybody is gonna try and sell you things that maybe you shouldn't ought to buy and not only that, they've been planning it for years." - Frank Zappa (introducing Poofter's Froth Wyoming Plans Ahead)

You know, he might have been onto something there.

And I already checked - I can't find a Capt. Beefheart Funko.

At least you can claim Axl Rose is an Amelia Earhart bust (I guess?) but the others... yeesh

Well those are creepy as hell. However I'm looking forward to some archeologists digging one up in 2000 years and trying to figure it out.

On the anniversary of Lemmy's death I ended up down at The Rainbow drinking Jack and Coke's seated right in front of his statue as various people came by saluted, took pictures and women attempted to fellate it (Lemmy would have wanted it that way).

I was there for a good hour plus and can tell you that's about as much face time as you really want with Lemmy absent his charming personality.

I'd rather have Trish hanging on my wall than any of those busts.

I think I've told this story here before.  The first time I met Lemmy (and Mickey Dee) was at a KNAC halloween party at Medieval Times in the early 90s.  I asked him about the few songs that he co-wrote with Ozzy (Mama, Hellraiser, Desire) and he said that those few songs made him more money than his entire Motorhead catalogue.
