Self help by people from poor countries working in the USA is vastly larger than all US donations, government and private.

Think about that. Tens of billions of dollars earned and shipped by family.

It's not communism, it's not socialism. It is not Christianity even, except for some. Hey, I know. Let's starve refugee babies and children in the name of Christofascism.

Now compare that aid with the aid rich people give to the poor, and their own univeverstite and places of worship.

It's a whole unseen universe of good and humanity.

That's actually pretty cool. $150-200 to get a barrel full of goods to the tropics seems very cheap.

I've got several barrels myself, that I've picked up over the years from various worksites and whatnot.  Used to get various supplies in them, and they're still perfectly good.  They're excellent for storage.  Keep things out of the way and clean.  Decorated one with various colors of duct tape and made a makeshift end table.  (I was cultivating an "industrial" look in my decor at the time.)
