If a US airline is leaving from the US to Spain not sure how Spain can demand everyone on that plane wear a mask or how they would even know if they did or enforce it.

At Spain customs:
"Ahhhhh you. I recognize your face. You were in seat 23C. We have secret video of you not wearing a mask the whole time you were on the plane. REJECTED! GTFO!"

I'm sorry but masks on planes this long after the vaccine is just bullshiat.

I flew in March and it was the same at the airport and on the plane: You HAVE to wear a mask! Except while eating or drinking. COVID can't escape your mouth if food or liquids are nearby.

Fark off with that nonsense.

I haven't ditched my mask yet, and my daughter who is 24 and married did not get the vaccine because reasons and now she full blown covid and she is not getting better. She may have to be admitted to hospital. It's not over people.

Still wear mine when going into stores or places where I may be in contact with people.  Plague rats didn't become immune just because someone said we didn't have to wear masks.  And from the people in stores, most people (probably 2/3 average) agree.

Presumably they would fine airlines that don't make a reasonable effort to enforce it.

Wearing a mask turned out to also be a blessing for people like me with environmental allergies.

What's the big deal with wearing a mask. It makes a lot of sense even without COVID.

Yep.  It should be ventilation on max, masks on, no food or drink service... for short flights.  You can go a few hours without food and drink if you have to.

International flights... you're taking your chances and the passenger list should be available to both origin and destination countries in the event they need to do a contact trace and get some people to quarantine.

I have one weird wild trick that could make eating far less spready!

Actually just take it off to bite then put it back on to chew.

No reason but laziness people can't breathe 100 percent of the time behind a mask even while eating or drinking .

Also you can survive for weeks without eating.

No real reason to do anything but drink water anyway.

Don't forget the kids. I saw one get a bag of snacks from his mom and he spent a good 20 minutes eating it. No mask the entire time because - as long as you're eating or drinking it's not required.

It should be one or the other. Either it isn't safe to fly without a mask and so there are no exceptions or it is safe to fly without a mask and not just while you're cramming food into your face.

We had to take a long flight yesterday. There was coughing, sneezing, and disgusting  snot sounds all over the place. We kept our masks on. I hope they worked, since we are both vulnerable. The masks do get annoying after a while, but I've really appreciated not getting sick for a couple of years.

I'm not sure the point of that article, other than to make us think Britain is still part of the EU.

I was in Europe a couple of weeks ago. Italy was by far the strictest and where I saw the most people wearing masks in general. twice in Rome I was asked for my vaccination paperwork to dine in a restaurant. Followed  by Germany where most people wore masks when they went in to stores but kept them off outside. Iceland was the least with almost no-one wearing them. these tiers also worked for each countries respective airlines. I did need to show my vax records to enter the EU in Iceland though.

Headed to London on Tuesday so I guess well see there.

Multnomah County, Oregon is now recommending for people to wear masks indoors again, and my daughter's school has had 24 cases reported in 2 weeks.

In case you live in a place that doesn't track these things or report them accurately, this is the trend we are seeing in states that actually give a fark. Act accordingly.

I've noticed in the last two weeks, the local Asian visitors are wearing much better quality masks around here. They aren't wearing any cloth or surgical masks but 95 or better ones.  On the trains where masks are supposed to be mandatory, the local university students won't be wearing masks at all but the foreign students all will be.

Hospitalizations are now above the halfway point to where the staff are overloaded yet they keep going up and up. In There are many days when the stats of people no longer in ICU match the number of dead because they went home in a bodybag.  The last time the cases got too high, the coroner made the comment that people died because mistakes were made due to overloaded staff members.

We have a winner! You have stumbled onto the root of the whole stupid scam.  It's fine to take the mask off to eat, but not to just sit there comfortably not eating.  Wearing them in the gyms was even stupider, huffing and puffing out clouds of exhaust around the mask pretending it was doing something other than making your face hot.  The people who are still clinging to that asinine notion like a little kid hanging onto his security binky are pitiful, and I dare say, are in fact the selfish ones.

N95 masks and respirators have been readily available for over a year now, and actually do something, for the wearer no less.  If you're scared, please get one, wear it, and leave the rest of us alone.

Airline flights were never a vector for COVID transmission. The air is circulated through multiple HEPA filters.IF you feel safer masking up, go for it. But it's no longer a necessary or reasonable precaution.

Right now I'd still rather drive and the only place I might want to fly right now anyway is a really long drive...

I was looking forward to taking off my mask 2 weeks after I got my 2nd dose, but right about the same time numbers started going up again when I really thought they would keep trending down.  That was almost a year ago and I figured I'd just keep wearing it until the numbers looked better but that took so long I just never did.

I may be a little paranoid but sometimes I think people in public look at me funny for wearing a mask and when  I see another person wearing one I feel a little better.  I am not alone. I smile at them behind my mask as we pass like 2 ships in the night or 2 shopping carts in a grocery aisle.

Whenever I think about going maskless I think I'd rather not be sick even for a day and it's not too inconvenient anyway. I can also see how others don't want to deal with one all day at work. Just respect my personal space. if you see me wearing one.

An employee at Lowes actually put his hand on my back and shoulder recently. He was supposedly helping me find something but was already creeping me out and I'm still pissed off about it. I just said "Don't touch me!" and left. Sure, he didn't grab my ass, but I still think that was wrong.

Just to give a bit of context for the subject of the article - a few hours *is* an international flight from the UK. You can get to anywhere in mainland Spain from London within 3 hours. Greece and Turkey would be a bit longer, but it won't be larger planes.

They will still do food, drink, etc., but most people will keep their masks on when not eating or drinking (at least, they did when I flew back to the UK from Spain around Christmas), and if 90% of the flight is being compliant and not acting as if it's the same as being in a Hostel movie to wear a mask for 3 hours, that's better protection than nothing, whether or not it's truly needed at this point. The fact that you won't get 100% of people masked 100% of the time does not make it a waste to have some protection.

Because she is not my sister and infections are going up again and she works in a small office and the only way she caught it is because she was in contact with a spreader.
