Aw, sh*t.  This one's gonna sting a bit.  Never saw Remo Williams, but I liked him in everything I saw him in.  Tremors and Tremors 2 would probably be my favorites.

Even if cast as such, he always seemed to make his role more than just "that guy".

Him and Bacon in Tremors had some  of the best buddy chemistry in cinema.

The only thing I remember ever seeing him in was the 3rd Naked Gun movie. But, he was good in that so I can't imagine he wasn't good in most of the other things he was in

I loved Remo Williams, and I was 14 when it came out and since I had an unlimited free movie pass (real and later date altered) I likely saw it in the movie theater, but Joel Gray as the Asian martial arts master was farked up. Mr. Ward was awesome in it and everything else I ever saw him act in.

What kind of world are we living in where "Highlander" got four sequels and there's something like fifteen "Police Academy" movies, but we never got "Remo Williams 2" or "History of the World Part II"?

Somebody stop this crazy planet, I want to get off of it.

RIP Mr. Ward - I always enjoyed your performances.

He improved everything he was in.  That's an actor.

Rest In Peace, Mr. Ward.  If you're buried, watch out for Graboids.

Aw damn, I just watched Tremors again with my 10 year old son, first time for the boy.   Man, that was a good movie!  It holds up very well and the kid loved it.

I mean, the character was even MORE racist in the books. In his depiction and his characterization. He thought everyone who wasn't Best Korean to be subhuman, which was played for laughs.

I remember seeing it in the theater just because Fred Ward and being shocked it was so good. You don't get many near perfect "B" level creature features.

There's another (albeit made for TV) Remo Williams movie (RW: The Prophecy) with Roddy McDowell as Chiun.

I haven't seen it but I don't imagine it can be any better.

All I remember about Remo Williams was the Statue of Liberty sequence and Wilford Brimley. But, it did seem like a cool idea to have an action sequence on the Statue while it was being refurbed.

Yeah, there's no saving that character, and I'm a guy who thought Fu Manchu could be re imagined easily enough.

I thought it was amusing that the super-advanced prototype rifle was a decade old Steyr AUG.

Joel Ward's awesomeness and the fact the make-up crew was nominated for an Oscar (it probably paved the way for Eddie Murphy's Jewish man at the barber shop in Coming to America) give it a pass. It's funny and memorable, but it's going to get crucified by today's standards.

But it doesn't get "Asian actors of the time" pass. Hollywood caster could have auditioned Mako, Pat Morita (a former comedian), James Hong and Victor Wong (Big Trouble in Little China's Egg Shen and the s--t talking priest in The Golden Child; he did have health problems at the time I believe though) and maybe Jackie Chan if you wanted the make-up and action scenes, but he'd probably wouldn't me$h with the production.

/Wiki says Wong died from stress over his son's whereabouts on Sept. 11, damn

I was watching We Own This City and Fred Ward looked way younger than 79. Great actor, I just assume the Punisher series took a toll on him.
