They just elected her son as President.   He goes by BonBon.  I am unsure if he is delicious or not.

Why would you spend so much money filling a house with valuable (and in this case gaudy shiat) but spend so little on the architecture of the house. It looks like a shiatty apartment in Burbank that might have flamingos in the front yard. This is the cream of the crop of the Philippines? Trash.

From wiki:

"Ferdinand Marco's dictatorship was deposed by the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution and the Marcos family was exiled to Hawaii. After Ferdinand Marcos's 1989 death, the remaining members of the family were allowed to return to the Philippines to face various corruption charges in 1992. However, they were able to return to political power that same year, to the dismay of many Filipino people, with the election of Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as congressman for the second district of Ilocos Norte."

Oh, the Marcos crime family did some crime? Next you'll tell me water is wet.

I'm still amazed they elected Bongbong so enthusiastically, but each time one of these wannabe dictators gets elected I get less surprised. People just are kinda terrible that way.

It's probably a Chinese copy. I've seen some damn good copies being painted by a Chinese painter at our mall. I think there's an art school in China that specializes in replicating famous paintings.

It says "Bongbong". Like, "I smoke two joints before I smoke two joints and then I smoke two more". Except with bongs.

If you can't respect a  man named Bongbong, who can you look up to?

I guess that's probably racist.  They have different names over there.  (waves arms wildly)

The Filipinos will get tired of this shiat, there will be another people power movement and he'll be run out of town like his pop. They'll elect another actor and after that, another Rodrigo.
In my opinion, the Philippines improved under Duterte in a way. I didn't care for the drug dealer purges but crime dropped according to my in-laws. Now Imelda will be buying more shoes and she has a hard time standing up without her maids. I watched a documentary about her and yeah, she's scum. Giving pesos to the poor has a way of improving your chances of being elected in the Philippines. We had a feeling Bong Bong was going to win a year ago. This is frustrating.

STOP USING FARKING QUOTES WHERE YOU DON'T NEED THEM!

Was it missing? Yes, it was, so the quotes are not needed here, for Christ's sake. And don't say "Well, the newspaper did it...", because we all know that there are no longer editors at any of these news agencies, and the "journalists" are nothing more than bloggers.

Who exiled them to Hawaii?  That reeks of US government interference since Marcos was a good third world toady I'm sure and our government will protect them no matter how corrupt they are.

John Oliver just did a segment on Philippine elections. Long (20 mins), but as always, worth a watch. Imelda, aka 'The Iron Butterfly ', gets rightfully hammered.

Imelda Marcos has held public office in the Philippines for the last 19 years...she was in their version of the House the last 9 years... pretty sure she's considers herself "forgiven" and feels pretty secure about displaying any artwork she's stolen over the years.
Anybody remember her being attacked on stage by a guy with a machete? She used to sing and some guy took exception to her vocal stylings.

All of the art pictured in the photos in the article was purchased with money stolen from the Philippines.

See, e.g., Donald J. Trump's residential decorative preferences. Cheap architecture, tacky furniture, an incoherent mishmash of art that is intended to impresses the masses, lavishly furnished with heapin' helpin's of "gold" - pure gold, gold leaf, gold gilt, gold spray paint, whatevs. Being surrounded with the color gold must make the garden-variety trailer-park despot feel like he's (it's always a "he," isn't it?) a not-yet-dead pharaoh.

I would not be the least bit surprised if she dabbed some paint on those paintings so she could then later claim that they were copies and not originals.

Oh, everyone's got one of those.  I grabbed 2 at Costco.
