He truly is a legend of old-timey football.

It's because we're old.  We should probably plan on getting used to this kind of thing happening more an more often.

Always enjoyed listening to him on the radio broadcasts back in the good old days when home games weren't on TV.

The radio call of Vinatieri's winning FG against the Rams is etched into my brain, and one of the best parts of it is hearing Gino in the background laughing like a little kid, finally seeing his team win it all. Rest well, Mr. Patriot.

2:20 for the call, but might as well listen to the whole thing. The joy in his voice is amazing.

The old films are fun to watch.  Nice one handed grab by Cappelletti at the five minute mark.

Add in Gil Santos trying to get the words out while also in complete giddiness. It rivals Johnny Most's Havlicek Stole the Ball.

The Silent Generation are all in their 80s and 90s, and the oldest Boomers are in their mid-70s.  The stars from the 50s are almost all gone, and the stars from the 60s are beginning to fade.

In the last 3 years, we've lost Willie Brown, Nick Buoniconti, Forrest Gregg, Bart Starr, Cliff Branch, Herb Adderly, Willie Wood, Larry Wilson, Bobby Mitchell, Jake Scott, Gale Sayers, Curley Culp, Floyd Little, Sam Huff, Irv Cross, Don Maynard, Charlie Taylor, Daryle Lamonica, and Rayfield Wright.  That's almost an entire merger-era All-Pro team.
