We're probably heading that way.  2026 has usa Canada and Mexico, the European bids for 2030 are spain/Portugal and 4 eastern Europe countries together.  The south American bid is 4 southern countries.

I think Greece was the first good example of how large events are just too much for smaller hosts. I also think that hosting nations get just as much satisfaction out of hosting a fraction of events than hosting all of them. I don't think the North American World Cup is going to require a single new facility to be constructed. The constant construction of what amounts to single-use facilities around the world is no longer acceptable. The World Cup is way ahead of the Olympics. Kinda shocking that the world cup committees are less corrupt than the Olympic committees.

Much more fun to actually go to countries playing in the world cup and watch the games at bars there.

I'm sure that'll be true this year. I wonder if I could make it to Europe for it.

I'm getting amped for... late november?

Some friends and I are flying into Barcelona, then hopping around Europe to various countries to catch a game at a local bar watching the match.  We did this for Russia's and had a blast.  Brought jerseys from the local club and swapped them out, it was a great time.

For 2026, I can't wait to go down to Mexico.  Not when they play us of course, but I'll root for them against almost any other country.
