Four games?  Something like that, at that level, he should be booted for the season.

There are a lot of sports that could be improved by allowing tackles. Golf, for example

I think most of the gymnasts have already been assaulted

Four games?  I don't know how pitching rotations work in junior college but that's like no punishment at all.

Why were both teams ordered to forfeit, and why were the bench players suspended as well?   When shiat goes on like that, you better run on the field or you won't be playing anymore anyway.   The video doesn't show if the batter was taunting the pitcher or anything, not that it matters much.  Suppose he started talking trash while rounding the bases.  Fine, suspend him and boot the pitcher for the season.

Season I could live with.  At least a month to be fair.  He is a pitcher for goodness sake, 4 games means he might not even miss a start.  That assumes the team doesn't boot his ass for that kind of behavior.

Talk about a designated hitter.

Something tells me the hitter said something & probably deserved the ass-whooping he got. Hence the lenient suspension.

Call it the Andre Johnson Rule.

Andre Johnson beat the F out of Cortland Innegan, and only got fined, not suspended, because everyone knew Innegan was a punk who had it coming.

Something like that deserves permanent expulsion from whatever their governing body is.

And assault charges.

They gave the batter a 2 game suspension for 'taunting' (which presumably explains the slap on the wrist for the pitcher)... but I've watched the whole video and there's ZERO taunting that I can see.  The only reaction at all, other than normal running, is him giving the base coach a high-five.  And at that point, the pitcher was already running at him.  Unless he shouted something and we couldn't hear it.

/What injuries did the guy get?  Lucky he didn't end up with internal bleeding and broken ribs, if he escaped unscathed.

4 games is not enough.

Sounds like the next time the 2 teams play there needs to be a walk on w MMA skills to stomp the dogshiat out of the pitcher.

God I hate baseball's unwritten rules

Honestly, if it comes to this or headhunting on the next AB, I'm all in on this becoming the "unwritten rules" way of handling a HR trot/trash talk you don't like.

/of course he should probably be kicked off the team and charges filed
//but damned if it's not a hell of a lot more fun than the rest of a baseball game coontil everyone starts doing it)

It's extra stupid because the league also suspended all players and coaches of the home run team that came out of the dugout. So now they might have to forfeit their next 2 games, to the team that started this whole mess, if they don't have enough players.

Stupid. Should cost him the season

I will say this - I've spent a lot of time around pro and semi-pro athletes in my life and baseball players are among the dumbest

Them and lacrosse. My college didn't have a football team so I can't compare

He is done.
He was kicked off the team.

ha! this is what happens in a world of Will Smith slap + NL DH.

Conference gave him a 4 game suspension. The school kicked him off the team.  School is looking into expelling him. Police have taken witness statements and looking into charges.

Base runner's team will have to forfeit next two games, which I believe is against the pitchers team.

Betting the taunt started at the plate. Looked like the second base ump was talking to the runner before the pitcher decided to relive his high school linebacker days.

Taunting.

This is why there's no ice hockey in North Central Texas.

Ok, the batter taunted him.  The remedy isn't to tackle him, the remedy is to have the pitcher or pitchers teammate throw inside on him and plink him in the hip. At least that is what is required in the unwritten rules of baseball.  Or better yet, strike the SOB out the next time he is up.
