I thought they were going to race to a destination and include the Tesla having to stop to charge.
That's what I get for RTFA.

I drive an EV (not a Tesla) and someone tried "betting" me that I would not drive it from Chicago to Florida with a family of 4 on vacation because it would take too long waiting for it to charge.

I told him I would have to decline his bet as my car was a "city car" and good for 99% of my driving needs.  For a trip to Florida with a family of 4 that I did not have, I would rent a new minivan of some sort.  I mean it's not like when I go on vacation I have to a buy a home at my destination. I rent someplace to stay.  Why can't I rent a car/truck when I need one?

I agree. Why would anyone use their daily car to drive more than 1000 miles. You're just adding wear and tear to it, when you can just rent a car and let the rental company deal with that.
