(Deslidefied)   Let's put on our explorers' hats and venture into great things that were found inside pyramids. Oh, and don't get cursed while doing so   (deslide.clusterfake.net) divider line

Take these findings with a grain of...grain 🌾

We all know what they were really for.

The wooden cedar fragment actually went missing for over 100 years, and was only rediscovered in 2020 by accident; a curatorial assistant at the University of Aberdeen managed to relocate the item in a cigar tin.

I've been inside Khufu's pyramid. They wouldn't let me leave the main corridor and the false burial chamber at the end, even though I had my own flashlight. Bastards.

The solar boat museum next to the pyramid was really impressive. TFA says they've moved the boat to Cairo now. Well worth the visit. IIRC, there's a virtual tour of the boat online somewhere. I'll have to see if I can find it.

The big museum in Cairo is also well worth a visit. If you go, allow plenty of time- even the regular tourist areas have a LOT to see. We slipped one of the guards some cash and got a tour through some of the areas tourists weren't normally allowed to go, and got to watch some scientists  putting a mummy under a portable X-ray machine, among other things.
