Candace Owen's has assured me that racism isn't real.

Because racists fight the elimination of racism tooth and nail and they have NO problem getting into positions of power, for some reason.

The last chattel slave was not released until 1942. And we only did that because keeping slaves was a bad look while we were claiming Japan was farking evil incarnate. Yep if the Japs hadn't bombed pearl harbor we would probably still have actual farking slaves in the USA. You can't just hand wave 450 years away. Especially when you are continuing the same farking practices.

Ah yes. Remember 2001? No racism then. What happened?

Because it's easier to push down on someone else to get a leg up, and the folks at the top got to distract people from realizing that they already put in a glass ceiling?

Because American's won't solve racism. No matter how optimistic you get it will never happen because we allow those among us who will never accept an end to it. Yes I can point to places as well where it's being fought and the fight is pretty successful at times. I can also point to a lot of places where it never will be. It will be with us until we are no more even though I wish it wouldn't.

Because ending racism is an existential threat to racists AND for people who have built their entire personas around wanting to end racism.

As long as there's an underclass to exploit, the exploiters will demonize them. Stop the exploitation and the racism should evaporate.

Killing the entire underclass is a bit extreme, but if you say so...

Racism is inherent in humans. Due to the growth of civilization, it aided the self-defense mechanisms that ensured survival of the tribe. Everyone 'sees' race and identifies themselves along racial lines. Therefore everyone is racist.

Discrimination in the modern world is what people rally against. And rightly. Racial discrimination is what people mean when they say "racism."

Racism will never disappear as long as there are Homo sapiens on this planet.

Now we're talking, how should we get that egg cracked?  It looks like for now the whole nuclear wasteland thing is on hold until another moron heads up the states so that's out.  Global warming is taking far too long, need something with a lot more flash in the pan violence.  De-orbit the moon and have it spin the earth into a ball of chaos maybe?  It'd still be a few decades to the finish line but they'd be really wild.

In the US everything is based on how much money you have. The quality of healthcare, the quality of public schools, the crime rates, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Certainty, some people of all races prefer a race, or dislike particular races. Historically, that's what racism meant. That exists, yes.

But that doesn't mean systemic racism is why we have these differences in outcomes. I would argue the opposite.

The real systemic issue we have is wealth. The amount of systemic racism you will face is directly proportional to how much money you, and your respective race, has.

The race with the most money in the US isn't White. It's Asian. And Asians have higher levels of educational attainment, lower unemployment, lower incarceration rates, get shot by police at a lower rate, have lower rates of unwanted teen pregnancies, lower rates of obesity, and longer life expectancy.

And that's only because we don't break it down further. What is considered a race is incredibly subjective with different countries recognizing different races. And, even knowing that Asians outperform Whites, we still see study after study that includes only White/Black/Hispanic.

The US as a country might be racist, but it isn't so racist that minority groups aren't able to outperform the majority.

The truly rich and powerful don't want people thinking about income inequality and how being poor sets up your children to be poor. Because that system benefits them. It ensures they will always be rich and that their children will effortlessly end up on top.

We haven't fixed 'racism' in healthcare because healthcare costs money. Have millions? Get the best healthcare. No job? No healthcare for you. True today, true twenty years ago.

If we make this about wealth, all us poor sacks might work together. The bottom 80, 90, 95, 99% whatever, could become united and cause real change.

But if we blame the healthcare differences, crime differences, educational differences, etc etc etc on skin color, then we remain fragmented. Regular people can fight each other over whether or not it's racist to say 'master bedroom' and debate the merits of BLM protests and be so focused on racism we won't fix it.

Both sides on racism? Really?

Yeah, that Martin Luther King wasn't serious about ending racism, it was just a money grab.

Fark handle checks out.
BSAB on racism.
Racists are bad, but people who want to get rid of racism are equally bad.
I am very intelligent.

Because everyone is racist, to some degree.
Take that even further; even same-race groups have their own sub-groups, and even those have sub-groups. You're not going to eliminate human nature.

The idea of race wasn't even a thing until sometime in the 1600s. Those denying systemic racism affects healthcare or that it even exists or that it's always been a thing would do well to do a search on Michael Harriot and enjoy and learn from all he has to say.
