Unless you're self-employed.

$0, because Trump had the filing changed. Now I can't file because I don't make enough nor can I use deductions that I was eligible for, deductions are for the wealth off now.

Actually, taxes aren't due until Monday. I know this because I always file at the last possible moment because I'm stupid like that.

I probably should have made an appointment to get mine done, but I'll just drop them off at H&R Block today or tomorrow.  They won't get to them until next week sometime, but there is no rush since both Uncle Sugar and the state of Arizona combined owe me at least 4 grand.

I'm now one of those people who have to get extensions and file in October. (I do face penalties if all my taxes aren't paid by today, so I'm sending across the latest estimate and rounding up.)

Did my tax last night using turbotax. I should be getting about a thousand back, but what an uphill battle. Their system is rigged so that if you miss one tiny little thing, it takes you all the way to the end, before booting you back to the beginning to find and fix that thing, without telling you what it was.

So, you have to fill it all out again. And you have to hope you answered the mystery question right this time. And if you didn't you get to go back and try again, and again, and again....

And it seems like they decided to do it this way so they could force you to loop back through, past every single beg screen asking if you want to upgrade to a more expensive plan or buy add-ons and extras, over and over and over.

Last year it was dead easy. This year? Nightmare.

Really, what tax holiday is it today?

Already got about 2k back from fed and Ohio. Utah is trying to hold on to that next 600. Weirdly my Ohio taxes required me to sign a perjury statement on TurboTax and Utah did not.

Thanks Mormons!

Did someone release an instagram or tiktok using the 'IRS knows' talking point?  Been seeing it quite a bit this year compared to years prior.

Ahh, tax season. When all the geniuses brag about giving the IRS an interest-free loan for a year.

/But, but my refund was biggie.

King Something: $69,420

A friend asked to borrow money: I zelled them $420.69 . I had to tell them to look closer. Sigh.

I mean, seeing that my Savings Account made a sum total of $2.35 in the last year with over $20k in deposit, I don't think I'm missing much giving the government a tax free loan.

0.01% interest on savings kind of farks you either way, so why not have a little bonus check come April every year?

And I'm just over here playing the "Yes you are getting the employee retention tax credit at some undisclosed date in the future but you need to pay the taxes on it by Monday" game.

The goal is to owe the maximum amount you possibly can each year while avoiding penalties.

And the feds setting things up so most people almost always getting a refund is a good thing as not everyone is responsible enough to not spend it and get stuck paying fines and interest.

Yeah, no.  The article is about trusting your gut.  Never trust your gut, it's full of shiat.

Citibank has accounts earning .6%. I mean, still pathetic, but not as pathetic as your current rate.
