A $524 million loss will somewhat decrease profits in the current quarter.

Not much, in relative terms.

This is a company that pays billion dollar fines here and there without a hiccup in its stock price. One or two bankers on Park Avenue will get chewed out. A couple of their analysts will be fired as a penalty.

Then it will be time to talk about the Summer reading list, tennis tickets, and the divide & conquer plan for making the rounds at Hamptons parties this season.

It's an earnings call. It's all about lowering expectations so that they can beat the analyst projections next quarter.
