The out of control merging Civic driver that hit him probably didn't survive, or if they did, will have a lifetime of pain and suffering.

Kudos to the engineers that build and designed that rail.

Holy shiat!

Was that, technically, an explosion? That looks like a ruptured fuel tank & a bunch of leaked fuel bursting into flames. Conflagration, certainly, but I didn't see compression or shock wave.

If you read the article (who does that?) it says he was fine and is being processed for drunk driving.

It was an implosion.

Anytime I see the words "box truck," the first thing that comes to mind is that mirrored truck in eastern Europe where they film porn while parked in public areas.

Not that I've ever watched any of that. I heard about it somewhere.

I like how the dark sedan sees the whole thing, slows to a near stop, says 'fark it' and guns it past. I think most of us would do the same.

Drovee past the scene on my way home yesterday. There was nothing left of that truck. Glad everyone got out ok

What's with the farking jackholes driving blindly through a thick plume of black smoke.  That's how people get ran over idiots.

I applaud your RTFA skills, then.  Thank you for enlightening us all, especially those of us who are too farking lazy to bother with the text portions.

Was trying to see but they seem to use a cam from 1998... It looked like the box survived... Guess not.

The crazy part was the raining fire off the side of the bridge. Just missed a car and looks like they actually put it out driving over.

Not to brag or anything, but as a lifetime box driver, I have made a few explode over that time.

Any halfway decent cam is being used to issue tickets

Either you were a horrible driver or this is a thinly veiled sexual innuendo riffing on the word "box" as a synonym for female genitalia and "driver" implying an act or acts that bring a sufficient level of pleasure to cause them to experience orgasm, aka "explode."

I mean, there are other ways to interpret that statement, but those are the first two that come to mind.

That sounds like an even sadder version of Bangbus.

People are so farking stupid. After the accident, when the truck was burning, there was zero visibility across the lanes from the smoke. Morons still drove through it, having no idea what might be on the other side.

Yeah, I was worried they might run over the guy getting out of the burning truck, but you know, Becky has to get to gymnastics practice so screw y'all.

Most of those trucks use Diesel fuel, which really doesn't explode like gasoline vapors do. I'm amazed that a ruptured fuel tank of Diesel fuel created that large of a fireball. Maybe the truck was gasoline powered?

Wow! Good engineering design on that barrier! All the cars on the lower freeway had no idea how close they came to having a flaming 5-tonne truck come flying down upon them. That barrier should get a medal.

Scared the shiat out of me when it looked like he was going to bail out of the driver's door.  Very glad he changed his mind.

That's a real shame.  Drunk drivers deserve to be maimed/paralyzed when they pull that shiat.

Assplosion. From the truck driver and the first few cars behind him and the civic.

I'd just like to say that my link last night to the local Minnesota TV station had a better headline than this link to (checks link) a Philadelphia TV station.

Yeah, the collision is cool and all.

But the important question remains: why does their water tower look like a giant toadstool?

Good job to the bystander too for rushing in and convincing the truck driver to get the hell away from the burny-explody stuff.

I liked the splash of burning fuel that went over the rail and drenched the black car on the underpass at about the 0:12 mark and left its mark on the road afterward.

While not that common, there are gas powered trucks like that. However the fuel does react more like diesel and not as explosive as gas.

Yes, it was an explosion.

I think that the word that you're trying to be pedantic about is "detonation."

This should keep you busy: Is a cucumber a fruit or a vegetable?

Deal. A similar truck in my city went over a rail and into a giant river. They weren't found for a few days and it didn't turn out so well for the driver.

Guarantee that driver has some PTSD from this accident.
