Declare open season on the piggies. It won't fix the problem immediately, but it usually drives them away from populated areas pretty quick.

It's all over the south.  Wild Pig/Boar populations really have exploded.  Good thing residents have the grills fired up.

Was thinking same thing. Open season, freezer full of meat. Sounds like a real good time to open a butcher shop specializing in "locally sourced" pork. It would be pennies on the dollar.

Fun fact. Kingsford charcoal is based out of a little shiat town in Belle, MO off of hwy 50 west Of st Louis. I was an iron worker for a while right out of high school, and helped build a few additional buildings there. We had to paint all of the steel white, mostly just rattle can for OSHA, and we would do it on site. You would start on one end of a 40' span, and by the time you got to the end, it would be gray.

But some will decry the killing of these dangerous animals until it's one of their children who gets torn up by them.

I wouldn't be interested in eating them. The meat isn't good. It's somehow lean and greasy at the same time, and has an odd, foxy flavor that I find quite unpleasant. Few people care for it.

The one thing I love about modern commercially processed pork, is that they have fed them full of so many antibiotics and anti-viral since they were born, that I can comfortably cook my hand cut chops (usually buy a loin or side at butcher shop) to 135-140° , let em rest for a few, and enjoy some tender medium cuts. Play around on the grill with some soaked apple wood chips and careful placement, I get a decent amount of smoke flavor, salt crust, and good char marks after an overnight dry brine. We raised hogs for fall slaughter when I was younger, and you cooked that shiat to 165°. Trichinosis is NO fun

Drives into the rural areas? Where there are likely more guns and more people able and likely to shoot them, thus driving them back to populated areas.

GOTO 10

Same way you get coyote in downtown Chicago, or that black bear that managed to end up on the campus of the Univ. of Kentucky awhile back: intelligent animals, opportunistic feeders, high birth rate, no natural enemies, and people who keep bringing them into the area (rich people ruin everything), malicious and/or negligent introduction (snakehead fish into US waters, zebra mussels sucked up into bilges on international waters, then that water gets pumped out into non-native lakes and rivers).

I was in New Orleans about 3 weeks ago. Took the kiddos on a fan boat tour. At the boat company, there was a pig just roaming around. They said she just showed up 3 weeks earlier. She just hung around the grounds and let people feed and pet her.  I wonder if she's become a meal for one the numerous alligators since then.

US-75 was closed northbound for some destruction, so I used a back back back road to get from Sherman, TX, to Durant, Oklahoma. The first odd sight was the free range goats and nobody had fences. I got part way to Durant and I saw a feral pig and a pack of piglets by the roadside. Never saw such a thing in a hundred thousand miles of working the backroads of East Texas. They'd have been massacred, but instead they lived in peace with the heavier traffic than I would have expected on a road between Durant and Paris.

So it becomes a game of long distance football without all the commercialism. I'm ok with that

Experiencing an issue with feral pigs, the U.S. Army post of Fort Benning in Georgia offered hunters a $40-bounty for every pigtail turned in. Predictably, however, people began to buy pigtails from butchers and slaughterhouses at wholesale prices then resold the tails to the Army at the higher bounty price

Self solving problem, really. Pro-tip, don't name your food, or put a face on it. Much less guilt free pulled pork sandwiches that way. My mom still won't eat sausage because she hand fed our first round of piglets. That was 30 years ago.

Offer a bounty on dead feral hogs, payable in whatever drugs the local junkies like the most. You can reduce street crime and control the hog population all in one go.
