I mean, I watched the Oscars. But the last time I was impressed with the Grammys was when Pink performed in 2010:

I don't think there are any singers today who could even attempt something that impressive, and it was a long time before that performance that the Grammys did anything impressive. The Grammys are almost always a disappointment.

Okay I admit to never watching award shows (the MTV awards when I was a kid was the end of that)

But um... when did the Oscars and Grammy's start happening so close to one another?

To me, watching the endless parade of awards shows is like watching beauty pageants. Seems like just another industry throwing themselves an extravagant tax write-off, as a "cost of doing business".

Bruno did some fun funky stuff there. Love the drummers processed hair

Bruno Mars opening was great!
I haven't watched an awards show in ages, but i know someone who is in the audience so i feel i must. She was invited by a minor player in the industry, and had seats in the peanut gallery, but nice experience for sure.

It's the after-parties that'll be all that.

"It's like a concert where we hand out awards." That's the only way this show is worth watching, and I'm surprised that they're letting the host admit that.

This is my least favorite Olivia Rodrigo song. I'm keeping an eye on her, though, because she has a strong enough voice to become the next P!nk.

Usually the Grammys are in January or February, but because of the surge, LA was like "nah, not right now" and so the Grammys moved to Vegas and couldn't get a good weekend until now.

I mean, obviously, the Grammys reflects what is on the "Hot 107.9" type channels.

I'd rather see an awards show around the stuff getting played on the Alt Rock stations, but, that's just me.

Of her three biggest singles, it's my least favorite, but "Traitor" is significantly worse. I'm not nor have I ever been a teenage girl, so it's not for me, but that hasn't stopped me from absolutely loving "Good 4 U" or "Deja Vu".

Eh, I'm an old guy, so none of her songs connect on an emotional level, but I'm hoping she keeps growing as a songwriter. Not that any of her songs are bad, I'm just not a teenager anymore.

The same one that is an Applebee's commercial in 2022, surely.

As Fark's resident Stan for TayTay she doesn't deserve an award for her last two album.  They were decent but that's it.

During the opening song, every time Bruno was in profile i thought of Sammy!

Earlier today i read that all the guys in BTS have to now do their mandatory military service

This is a pretty catchy tune, but these guys remind me of every boy band, ever. There's nothing super unique outside of them being Korean. It still counts as progress, but this performance wouldn't look out of place in 1990.

...I've never heard a Robert Plant/Alison Krauss song on one of those stations.  In fact, for a long time the Grammys seemed to buck the trend of giving awards to popular music both at large and within genres.

I mean, no one expects someone like Garth Brooks to contend for Album of the Year, but at least he might have cleaned up the Country category...except he only has two Grammys.  You'd expect Elvis to have a boatload of Grammys if they bowed to popularity...but the only competitive wins he had are in the Gospel category.  In the meantime, Steely Dan, Herbie Hancock and Robert Plant all have Album of the Year Grammys for works they produced decades after their popular prime.

lol Jack Harlow sneaks on, does half his verse, then just exits stage right.

A few years back, I decided I would never listen to "Old Town Road."  I made this decision because it was so popular, I had somehow managed to avoid it, and challenged myself to continue the streak.  Now I'm regretting it, because I've missed out on Lil Nas X.  What little I've seen, including his ball sack on SNL, I've enjoyed.  However, I can't get into the rest of his music without jeopardizing my decision about OTR.

Lil' NAS's jacket reminds me of the long reach Michael Jackson has, even today.

One of the greatest tricks I'm the world was him starting out on the scene with Old Town Road. Many heads exploded from what followed lol.

I really really like OTR, and I'm not a country fan. It's catchy as hell. Imma post it, listen to it during a break...  :-D
