Força Portugal! 🇵🇹

Also, may Team USA not be a total embarrassment.

If England loses that match, Southgate will get fired as England manager.

If I was a betting man, I'd say England and Wales come out of that group. If Wales doesn't make it, it's much more of a toss up.

It's not a knockout round, so they won't lose

It isn't that they would get knocked out, it is that they would have lost to us bloody colonials.

Delayed due to COVID, and also because if they played it in July there would probably be players who died on the pitch of heat stroke...

Sorry, unclear on my end. More that they are incapable of losing until penalties in the KO rounds. Pretty sure that's in the Fifa bylaws

*That* is entirely possible... in the secret by-laws that no one talks about.

Yakko: So what'll it be, Daddoo? The calamari or the squid?
Don Pepperoni: The calamari is squid.
Yakko: Well, how about the pasta or the noodles?
Don Pepperoni: the pasta is noodles.
Yakko: Well, would you like red sauce or marinara?
Don Pepperoni: The red sauce is marinara!
Yakko: Zucchini or squash? Ham or prosciutto? Drink or beverage?
Don Pepperoni: They're all the same!
Yakko: [to Dot] Do you realize this eliminates more than half our menu?

Não conheço o Brasil... deixe me ver... Pois! 7-1 Alemanha em sua própria casa. Me lembro do Brasil.

I would say take the odds on England and the USA.

Ukraine > Wales.

I don't see Wales getting to Qatar. Wales shouldn't scare anyone, certainly not the United States. Their best player is a shell of his former self. They have exactly two players who I believe would be instant starters for the US at this point, and Bale maybe wouldn't be if Reyna is 100% healthy.

If the United States lose to Wales, or fail to make it out of the group and Wales does, it'll be a complete embarassment.

In the last year and change, the only decent team Wales has beaten was Mexico in a friendly in March of 2021. Since then, their only decent result was a draw against Belgium at home. I don't see them as a particular threat.

A team that came third out of CONCACAF qualifying behind Canada and relied on tiebreakers to avoid being fourth isn't a powerhouse of success. The US record over the last year and a bit is even worse with losses to Canada and Costa Rica and relied on playing in the snow to beat Mexico.

Wales are a middling team in a ferociously competitive continent were any weakness or sloppy play will be punished (hello and goodbye Italy). Any one who comes out of the UEFA qualifiers will be a tough prospect due in no small part to the amount of toughness they will have already shown. Plus for Wales Gareth Bale has always turned up and shown he is world class even if Real piss him about.

I doubt I'll ever see a non UEFA, non CONMEBOL team win the WC in my lifetime. Or even make a final. I'm pretty sure the US (in 1930) is the only non UEFA/COMNEBOL team to even finish third. I do admire the steadfast, blind loyalty of delusional USMNT supporters however.

Turkey finished 3rd in 2002, with South Korea 4th. That's probably the most shocking third/fourth place match in the history of the World Cup if we're being honest.

Turkey is UEFA though. Greece won the Euros in 04 as well which will also never happen again. South Korea 4th was an all time fluke for sure.

Oh crap, that's right. I forgot they were UEFA and not Africa.

There wasn't a flake of snow in Cincinnati for the Mexico game
