Just started Wonderlands. I'm hoping for some typical Borderlands fun. Ashley Birch's Tiny Tina is always a blast. The one criticism I read and experienced is that the game goes from lighthearted fun to dark pretty quick and it is jarring. But so far great voice acting. And the 'Dragon Lord' seems to be a knock off of Handsome Jack.

I don't recall money ever being an issue in the game.

It's still not really, but it's worth more in Wonderlands than in Borderlands due to a restructuring of the vending machines and the loot pools they can pull from, as well as how enchantments work. Now it's possible to buy really really good weapons that can completely change your build in one shot or would only be available as drops in past games. So while it's still not that hard to make money, it's useful enough now that you might keep more of an eye on it.

I suppose it depends. Pre-Sequel did the same thing (mainly Felicity) to decent effect but BL2 was ham-handed as fark. It's like they forgot the whole point of the first game was that the Vault Hunters were supposed to be only marginally less evil than everyone else around them on Pandora, but that the evil was so outlandish to the point of being ridiculous. Then Jack is suddenly revealed to be just plain shiatty dad evil, this is serious you guys you have to be sad and angry now, and the whole thing just falls apart.

Did they keep something equivalent to the Grinders?

Caveat: thanks to the current supply chain shortages, many cars are now worth MORE after they leave the lot, thanks to the magic of supply and demand:

- There is a weeks or even months long wait for many new cars from different brands.
- Manufacturers (threatening to) cut off supply to dealers who charge more than MSRP/racketeering
- Buyer orders a car, waits a month for it to be delivered, and takes possession.
- Buyer turns around and SELLS the car back to the dealer the next day, either straight-up or as a trade-in. Since it is now technically a used car, the dealer can charge whatever they want for it. There are a good number of people willing to pay 125% MSRP or more for a car they can have right now without the wait to make it worth the dealer's effort.

Interesting. A procedurally generated, rare antique item I'll never acquire in a game I've never heard of and probably never play has a unique quality to remember it's been used. What will they think of next?

After playing Tales from the Borderlands and going to Borderlands 3, I realized the biggest joke of all is just how awful and amateur the Gearbox writers are especially compared to the Telltale crew.

There was not a single smile or laugh to be found in BL3 in the 20ish hours I put in until I gave up.

A Benz G63 is going for $125,000 over MSRP for a new one............if you can find one.

It also nerfs the damage. From over 2,000 to a little over 200 after that first shot. Better to use that one shot on a boss.

I forgot about Ashly's one-shot with Critical Role last night, so I'll have to catch the rerun.

Oh! It's a Borderlands game?

I'll be sure to avoid it.

"It'd be worth a hefty sum if it was never fired"

I don't think the verb tenses in that description accurately portray that the weapon has never been fired and is currently worth a hefty sum. Use of the past tense "would be" and "was never fired" suggests that the weapon has already been fired and is already not worth as much as it could have been.

I tried to play Borderlands, but the camera system give me motion sickness. One of only a few FPS games to do so. Last time I remember getting that sick was the airboat segment in Half-Life 2.

The original game's FOV is atrocious and may have contributed to that. Its default is something like 60-70 when most games use 90 at the least, and modern 16:9 monitors work best with something like 102-103. You could sort of fix it on PC but it constantly tried to fight you and reset it any time you did something like get in a vehicle so the only thing to do to keep it was to map the FOV change to forward, making driving a weird, wobbly affair as it constantly reset between both values.

/the Enhanced version actually has a proper FOV slider and keeps it there

It's the way the camera moves. Just makes me woozy.

You made it 20ish hours into the game?  I gave up after about 5.  I still have it on my Xbox hard drive, and may TRY to go back to it once I clear out the back log of games I need to finish, but I was having a really hard time getting into that game.

I can usually at least get that much fun out of the basic mechanics and dicking with loot until I realize that there's still 40 hours of game left somehow.

And that game consists of tires memes, bad writing, and the base game finally wears out its welcome.
