Hoping to be around for the USMNT game. Might be a bit late....

I'm always torn at World Cup time. Would I prefer the US to fail miserably at qualifying, or fail miserably in the group stage?

Popsqueak: 4pm PT, not ET.  7pm ET.

The times in the headline are correct.

Some remnants of snow on the ground in Toronto.
Jamaica is probably not enjoying this.

As an away-game problem, it's better than racist taunts and bags of urine being thrown at you.

Larin gives Canada the lead in the 13th minute.
Nice assist threaded through.
1-0

2022-03-27 4:20:57 PM
David should have made it 2.

2022-03-27 4:32:26 PM
A dangerous cross in from Holliet, but Larin can't redirect it in.

Why did the US decide to host today's game in Orlando? Minnesota worked out great for them!

Jamaica with an actual shot on goal.
But its an easy save for Borjan.

Good save there, glad I managed to get back before too late

My guess is travel.
They played in Mexico City on Thursday and go to Costa Rica on Wednesday.

Canada should really be up 3 or 4 right now.
Been mostly one way traffic.

I loved being there too. Fun as hell.

And that's 2-0!

2022-03-27 4:50:23 PM
About time Canada get their 2nd.
Buchanan gets the cross all alone on the back post.
2-0

I mean, I'm totally used to a team in red dominating possession and chances and not scoring....

Could easily be 4-0 at the half and that was playing into the wind, so I think Canada can safely start making travel arrangements for Qatar.

Our road game in that trio was cold Canada.  So travel was less and we got to stay in the cold all three games.

This trio has Mexico and Costa Rica on the road.  So Orlando keeps us warmer especially for the maybe most important game Costa Rica and reduces travel.  Plus some teams you don't want to play in Florida because the road crowd will be huge, but Panama works.

Larin crosses a ball right in front of goal, but Buchanan is not close enough to tap it home.

Another chance for Canada goes wide.

Canada making a number of defensive subs.
Henry comes on injured to start all the subs.

I'm assuming that clinching the top spot in CONCACAF gets Canada into a classier crystal bowl of ping-pong balls when they do the group drawing for the WC.

Indeed it does. It is always in your best interest to win your region

If they're not top 8 in the World Rankings they'll just be in the pool with North America and another non-Europe continent.

Don't remember any CONCACAF team getting seeded other than when hosting.

Canada's got this. Ignore the corrupt ratfarkery in Costa Rica.

Canada not only qualifies for Qatar, but wins CONCACAF.

Been watching Canada/Jamaica.  Just now thought to check for a thread.  Canada have this wrapped up with that goal.

Not seeded, just a better pot placement for the draw.

A phantom red after a dive put Canada down a player in the first half.

You don't get a primo placement unless you're seeded.

I don't see them splitting up CONCACAF teams in different pots.  They haven't done it in the past.  All of CONCACAF probably gets stuck with the non-Qatar Asian teams in our pot assuming CONCACAF and CONMEBOL win the inter-confederation playoffs.

Corrupt ref gave a Canadian a bullshiat red card, so they were short-handed for 65 minutes.

No extra time in Toronto.
Canada official going to Qatar.

same.. missed it by that much.. WOOT!!! all the same. Getting in at home, and that convincingly, has to feel pretty good.

And to think Canada did it without Davies for half the games.

This team is going to be seriously underrated in Qatar. Might even make the second round.

People who haven't seen them are just going to look at that world ranking which is 33 at the moment and not realize how much better they are now than the games 3 years ago lowering that ranking.
