Spa wasn't technically cancelled, they just ran 2 safety car laps and called it race.

A missile attack is probably around #8 on the list of dangers normally encountered during a F1 race.

Yeah, and anyone who's seen Rush will know about Fuji '76, when they ran the race despite the typhoon because of global TV rights.

Mazepin got fastest lap that race.

So the update this morning is that the drivers sat in meetings with officials until 2am local time before agreeing to race.

They do race in the rain most of the time

There are many F1 tracks that I look at and say "put some rain tires on and run."

Spa is not on that list.

With Mazepin out this year though, that took out dangers 1 to 4.

#7 now that Mazepin's gone.

I guess an F1 race would qualify as a high value target for terrorists. Good thing they used up all their missiles already.

Other news: a marshal for the Bonesaw GP has resigned from his duties for the rest of the weekend after posting on social media that he hoped that Lewis would have a crash like Romain Grosjean had in Bahrain

The marshal did write an apology, but what an idiot.

Steiner did say that he doesn't believe Mick will race tomorrow. By rule, they can't get a substitute for him because that sub would have had to take part in at least qualifying. So unless the track is bombed overnight, 19 cars will be on the grid tomorrow.

Wicked hit for Schumacher, checking the google says he's ok
All they said at first was he was conscious - mixed with no replay or the usual "are you ok" from the team radio was not a good thing

Also Lewis says his car is poop after being kicked in q1

I know I shouldn't support this race but I'm totally watching tomorrow

2022-03-26 3:40:49 PM
When I think about it, Houthi rebels are unlikely to hit a sporting event, they want to hit Saudi

I hope I'm right

According to F1TV's Will Buxton, tomorrow marks 11 years to the day that Checo Perez made his F1 debut. And he's on pole. In car #11.

On the betting site I play on, he's at +220 to win tomorrow (bet 10, win 22 profit). Should I?

I read somewhere that he now holds the most time from debut to first win, and most time from debut to first pole records.

Gunter says the hit broke the transmitter, they lost radio and telemetry.

That was not a gentle impact.

I assume the g force warning light was on (if the car suffers more than a certain g force load the light comes on), and the rules state that means a mandatory trip to overnight observation, no matter how 'fine' the driver says they feel.

No repeats of Brundle getting out of his mangled Jordan and making the race restart in the spare car...

That's good. After a hit like that, best to err on the side of caution.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants this to be the last race at Jeddah. It's a sh*t track, in a country with a sh*t government.

And in doing so gave Max a huge points advantage for qualifying first.

I want Checo to get a points advantage on Max so that Max then gets relegated to be second driver at Red Bull.  That works be great karma after the way Red Bull has treated second drivers.
