But, according to researchers, emissions of the elderly have a more local impact, compared to consumption habits among younger generations that lead to greater emissions in other countries.

Such as driving cars through farmers markets.

So it's coal fires vs almonds essentially then.

Repeat article with almost the same headline to boot.

Researchers also noted that the global ageing wave will exacerbate the issue, as people born between 1950 and 1960 add to the growing elderly population, which is expected to double between 2019 and 2050.

We get it.  Old people get stinky.  Thank you for pointing that out.

More diversion from the mega corps and industries that ACTUALLY impact carbon and climate emissions and onto the individuals who make up what? Like 10% of global emissions?

"The consumption habits of seniors are more rigid. For example, it would be an advantage if more people moved to smaller homes once the kids moved out," he said. "Hopefully more senior-friendly housing communities, transport systems and infrastructure can be built."
But, according to researchers, emissions of the elderly have a more local impact, compared to consumption habits among younger generations that lead to greater emissions in other countries.  "

So, which generation is a purely local problem, and which one is destroying the world?

Yet another misleading deceptive Fark headline. You'd almost think it was intentional, and not just an error on the part of a poorly educated youngster.

"Ooh, cool, another "generation" article!
We'll get the poors of different ages to all hate each other and blame each other for what we're doing to them!
Good plan, J.B.!!

Who owns the media?
If they could manipulate people into blaming others for their troubles, who would they want them to blame?
The 1%ers who own the media?
Or some old guy living on SS and catfood?

Blame the young!
Blame the old!
Blame the middle-aged!
Blame anybody but the owners of the media who are telling you who to blame.

I can hate more than one group at the same time.

Besides, it's the conservative boomers who have been bending over backwards to enable the ultrapolluting wealthy, so they're just as culpable.

If you read how generations actually vote, you might question that. It may comfort you to believe that it's just  old people who are electing the Trumps,. and Cruzs of the world - but  it ain't necessarily so.
And actually, too much hate, spread around too far, makes one weak and pussifies one.
Only a little biatch hates too much.

"You could drive an entire fleet of Hummers to and from work everyday, hanging your ass out the window and farting styrofoam packing peanuts into the atmosphere and still not cause a fraction of the damage that one stupid baby causes to this planet." -- Doug Stanhope, Abortion is Green

I am Tom Joad's Complete Lack of Surprise: "You could drive an entire fleet of Hummers to and from work everyday, hanging your ass out the window and farting styrofoam packing peanuts into the atmosphere and still not cause a fraction of the damage that one stupid baby causes to this planet." -- Doug Stanhope, Abortion is Green

It's funnier because it's true

Want to fight climate change? Have fewer children

Under current conditions in the United States, for example, each child adds about 9441 metric tons of carbon dioxide to the carbon legacy of an average female, which is 5.7 times her lifetime emissions.

1 fewer child saves 58.6T/yr
going car free saves 2.4T/yr
buying green energy saves 1.47T/yr

Lagging behind the easy changes, adopting a plant free diet saves 0.82T/yr, and recycling only saves 0.21T/yr

One reason the Baby Boomers have the biggest carbon footprint is the first word in their descriptor, baby...

FTFM

It should read plant based diet. My brain conflated plant based and meat free and came up with the option it preferred.
