It's a cool little town. My wife and I visited randomly when I was in Stuttgart for training. I knew it was a university town, but it never struck me as a "vegan city." The headline's a bit misleading as McDonalds is suing because of a tax on disposable food packaging.

Great University museum, excellent cloisters just outside of town at Beubenheisen on the north side of town heading back towards Böblingen. It's also where I learned that German curbs are really tall and bite back at car tires when I tried to pull over to let an ambulance by. I'd go back, just not all the way from Oahu again (Your US tax dollars at work).

""Our vegetarian offering of the day gets sold out much quicker than the meat offering," said Alok Damodaran, who runs a South Indian food truck in the city. This is significant in a country that is known for its sausage."

No its not you dick. Germans are smart enough to not go to an Indian food truck if they want sausage.

Jesus, who pissed in your corn flakes?

Germans are smart enough to not go to an Indian food truck if they want sausage.

Do you think and Indian food truck's meat option is wurst?

I mean Germans just want to wear lederhosen and knee socks and do slapping dances to accordion music after eating cabbage and gassing Jews. Pfffft...it's like they don't know their target market.

Hmmm. Somehow I missed this one during my misspent youth in Germany. (Ages 15-19).

I'll have to add it to my list for when I do finally get back over there for a visit.

Love finding out about new to me places to visit.

The people who live in those houses in the first pic are definitely vegans.

99% of the article is town worship. 1% is about the headline

I've been to Tübingen, several times.  It's a very pretty town and a lot of the people who live there are perfectly nice and ordinary, but it has to be said that a disproportionate number of them are utterly insufferable, sanctimonious fart-sniffers.  It's one of those places that attracts people with a certain kind of worldview and mindset, which in turn reinforces its attractiveness to other people with that same kind of worldview and mindset in a big, obnoxious feedback loop.  Couple that with the social and economical bubble that is a college town, and you've got a kind of perfect storm of sanctimony.

Yup.  Started reading and thought it was just a piece on the town, with subby making a joke with the headline.

Subby, your blog sucks.

I couldn't take anymore of reading that crap so I just searched for 'McDonalds'. Turns out they're suing over the city's packaging laws. I can't believe I'm siding with the earth muffins on this one.
