That's why you always put an extra stamp on if you calculate your own postage.

A Bentley SUV with 600 horsepower and 2 accidents, but that complicated W12 engine must be in great shape with only 17,000 miles on it, right?

I like most cars but Bentleys seem kind of ugly to me.

Weird situation.

4 or 5 years ago, I was contemplating getting a new-to-me vehicle to replace my two vehicles.  Came across an ad for a Porsche Cayenne turbo for $5k.  The listing claimed it was totaled in an accident then fully rebuilt and the seller hadn't had a bit of trouble in something like 70k miles.  I was briefly tempted.  I figured if I could keep it going for a few years without any major repairs, it'd be a deal and each additional year would be a bonus.  But then I figured getting it inspected nose-to-tail by an actual Porsche shop would cost a pretty penny so I wandered off.

I'm going to stick to what I know: the Mt Prospect police auctions. You can pick up some pretty sweet deals there, I've jeard.

the minimum bid is set at $109,000

So a vehicle they have zero investment in, that they basically just impounded, and they're starting the bidding at $109k?

Sticker price on those started around $195,000. Given the current used-car market, some sucker will probably a whole lot more than that minimum bid.

Yeah, government auctions are supposed to be more like a steal. Sure, you're saving $35K or so, but it's not the bargain basement price you normally expect.

Knew a girl who bought her car at a police auction. Some boring basic grocery getter, can't remember what. She had her eye on an awesome little Fiat 2 seat roadster, but they warned her that it had been seized while full of pot, and they had to do something in trying to extract it that made the car absolutely reek of pot. It was 100% legal, they were just warning that any time a cop walked up to her car, she'd have some "splaining to do.

She opted for the boring car that didn't smell like your uncle Bobby.

From an aesthetic standpoint, some car companies should leave SUVs alone. Jaguar and Porsche also come to mind.

On another point, SUVs are stupid big. The first time I saw a Lincoln Navigator in the wild in NYC, I thought it was gargantuan. Now it's the norm.

Get off my lawn.

stuffy: postmaster general Louis DeJoy's official vehicle?

That would explain the previous accidents... Someone took it for a DeJoy ride.
