If I'm not mistaken they're using 3g and 4g phones for c&c.

IANAH but it's my understanding that those are trivial to intercept.

If they wanted to use the fancy Secret Squirrel encrypted phone...maybe they should not have blown up the Ukrainian infrastructure that made the Secret Squirrel encrypted phone work

7k Russian soldiers dead in less than a month.

US was in Vietnam for 10 yrs and lost 58k. That was considered a debacle.

Russia on pace for around 850k dead if they stay 10 yrs.

How many Generals have they managed to off now? 3? 4?  I think it is going to get harder and harder for Heir Putin to convince his brass to keep leading the charge in his little endeavor.

K. So are Russian generals like American generals? Like vaguely important? Or just some rando designation for someone too stupid to take a step back when a request for volunteers was made?

Do Zerg count their dead the same way Protoss or Space Marines do?

I know Russians are technical humans, but, I've read their books. They sure don't thinks of themselves as particularly human.

Weird that they'd publicize this info - I'd think the propaganda value is worth less than not reminding the Russians that regular cellphones are completely unencrypted.

"No, us killing the general was complete luck - 1 in a million shot, really.  His OPSEC was perfect and we had no idea what his unit was up to.  Wrong place, wrong time, I guess."

Seeing as cell phones transmit at 0.5w at best, the interceptor was probably a bit closer.

If WWII should teach you anything it's that Russians have no compunction about throwing bodies at a problem.

Fairly sure the Russians know why their guy was blown up and probably warned all their other general officers to not continue to do that thing that gets their location turned into an explosion.
