The expectation on Russell is huge. And great to see Albon back after just not clicking at RB.

Quick note: this is a very busy motorsports weekend

Friday - WEC opener at Sebring (on US TV on Motor Trend)

Saturday - F1 Bahrain qualifying, IMSA 12 Hours of Sebring (starts on Peacock only but 2nd half of the race is on USA, FYI)

Sunday - F1 Bahrain GP, Indycar at Texas

Well depends what you mean by "title". I mean, he's been called a few things....

And the big question is how much have Mercedes been sandbagging in testing. They do this every year, so it it same as usual or are they actually in trouble?

Could George have moved to Mercedes the year they lose the plot? If Albon wins in a Williams before Russell in a Mercedes it will be deeply ironic.

I see you haven't met Zhou yet.

Definitely faster than Mazepin, about on Latifi level that way.  But MUCH more erratic than the later.  He'll be.... entertaining.

I was supposed to be in Sebring for the 12hrs, but I had some things come up Monday and I missed my ride on the Prevost to get there.

Not all bad, saved me some money to be able to attend the RM Auction in Ft. Lauderdale next weekend. That should be much more fun anyhow.

Oh, they in trouble. They're probably only nine-tenths up on the rest of the field.

On a more serious note, I've heard commentary that if they were really in that much trouble, they'd be showing signs of, not panic, as such, but things would be a lot less calm than they're acting right now.

In other news, they have changed the rules to explicitly say what people assumed they meant anyway, that when you let lapped cars unlap themselves during a safety car that means "all" cars, not just the ones you cherry pick to help one specific driver....

You mean they changed the wording to match what the rule was interpreted as up until the Abu Dhabi GP; including by that idiot Masi himself

F1 just put out the new opening titles. I just realized after watching it how punchable Max's face is because he has a very smug grin in it while everyone else is serious.

Nico must just sit by the phone 247.  Hope he has another good result.

WOOT!

F1 is back!

Can't wait for all of the butthurt Hamilton fans to come in here and cry when Russel/Leclerc/Max hands Lewey his ass!

AND THANK YOU MOTHERS!

Forza Ferrari!

You'd have a shiat-eating grin on your face too if you were 25(?) years old, already pulling 8 figures a year, getting more high-quality tail than every Farker will ever see combined, and on top of the pinnacle of motor sports.

- The new F1 race direction has already put their foot down. Niels Wittich has made clear in his prerace notes that the track limits are defined by the white lines on the edges of the track. Not the curbs. Not 10 meters outside of Turn 4 like last year. The white lines.

- And there will be a new F1 medical car driver since F1 requires all personnel to be fully vaccinated against Covid and the previous driver refused to get the g*ddamn shot. So he's been sacked.

If you've watched WEC or ELMS, you'll be familiar with Eduardo Freitas, who is one of the two new directors.  Toto and Horner are in for one hell of a shock when they try to pull their usual bs with him.

Considering Wittich seems to already on the same track limits page that Freitas (who is with WEC in Sebring this week, presumably) is known to be on; and that the teams are no longer allowed to talk directly with the race director; the BS level for this season sounds like it will already be sliced by at least half.
