So - Who's going to tell Subby that it's not just one race; ain't but about three GQP officeholders or candidates in the whole farking country that DON'T have ties to Russia...

I never equated Timken with the bearing company. Last time I checked bearings are a very controlled export item. How in hell is he doing business in Russia?

Yeah, if we don't lift sanctions soon, all the sweet Russian cash is going to dry up, and then what are they going to do? Run on their personalities? With no Troll Farms to drive traffic? I mean, how is THAT going to be fair to their brand?

What's really telling is that the local right leaning/mostly fallen over radio station has, for over a year, been running political ads, usually two per commercial break of the various GOP primary candidates.  Each of which has been trying to out Trump the others with their blathering.  It really was annoying & really made one wonder just who was financing ALL these ad campaigns to run all the time for a year+.

The past couple of weeks though, you maybe hear one or two an hour if that.

Not that anyone will dig into where all the money came from mind you, but it shouldn't be 'that' tough to deduce.

Keeping the sanctions going til 2024 would solve a lot of problems in this country.

While domestic issues generally dominate midterm political contests, Russia's invasion of Ukraine - with its harrowing images of civilian casualties - has become an animating subject of the competitive Senate race in Ohio, which has a large Ukrainian American population.

Hah, they're boned.

Even if the sanctions are lifted, it's gonna take a long time for them to recover enough to where they can blow the cash on random political races.

Except, of you look at the list no GQP personalities are included. They'll still have access to all that sweet Russian cash. Assuming they can find someone to take ad buys in Rubles.

I know it unrealistic and would never happen.  But millionaires and billionaires cannot and will not represent me or most of the people in America.

Every GOP candidate in the middle of farking Ohio? That's barely newsworthy.

This whole Ukraine war is fake news, sneaky dems just want to sanction Russia to dry up all the funding & misinformation propping up the GOP. It's a pretty clever idea when you think about it.

In America, GOP has ties to Russian money.

In Soviet Russia, money has ties to GOP.

Because there's a bunch that aren't export controlled?  Hell, they had a factory there to make bearings.  It's a global company so they're going to have business pretty much everywhere.  I won't fault them for doing business there in the past, especially now that they've shut down.  Unless it's proven that Timken was knowingly producing military parts and knew that Russia was going to invade, then they were just doing business.

What I will fault them for is the marriage of business and politics that's going on.

I was saying it as soon as it was clear Putin wasn't going to march on into the rest of Ukraine like he owned it, GONNA BE A REALLY FUN MIDTERM WHEN WHAT ALL THEM PEOPLE THAT GOT ELECTED BY SUPER PACS SUDDENLY HAVE NO SUPERPAC MONEYS.
Oh, who? Who? will fill those large shoes of funding the corruption of American politicians?
The last few weeks have been a real man behind the curtain reveal, between Fox News and the few elected actively still kissing Russia's ass when the whole world is unanimous in THEY ARE THE BAD GUYS.

We paid a hefty toll to get to some consequences, and this is the first of a cascading sequence of consequences because the losers don't write the history.

If anything, the last 6 years have taught me that even the most evil of best laid plans requires a lot of people to completely abandon their humanity, and humanity has a hard "self preservation" self check in the immediate sense.
I don't want to oversell the generall goodness of man, because holy shiat I also lived through the last 6 years plus 3 decades and change, but at least the good guys seem to be getting an edge after some bleak prospects even just a few weeks ago at the onset of this heavily predicted assault on Ukraine.
Zelensky has proven what a man who believes in what is right can get the whole world behind him, and it has been very delightful to watch the comedian become the badass.

Vancouver is going to have a weird one. That place is entirely propped up on the real estate end by dirty money worldwide, I am sure the Chinese rich will swoop in and buy what the Russian rich lose there.

They do all sorts of stuff. One my dad sells to is a division that makes specialty piping for high sulfur deep well oil extraction. Apparently the combination of high heat, sulfur, and hard rock makes it take a very exacting metallurgy and machining to get right. Last I had heard they were sold out of several years of production to Aramco, but it could be they fulfilled that order and the Russians came calling next.

/Favorite fun fact that came back to me last week, the Timken plant in North Canton had its own dedicated warhead during the cold war, apparently they made critical bearings for US tank production.
