What does it matter? Russia invading a sovereign country was provocative, this is just reminding Russia that any hostile action against NATO countries (some of them used to be Soviet Republics, that Putin wants his grubby hands upon them) will be met with the deadliest force.

Also, this is happening in Norway, not Poland. There are mountain ranges and Sweden and Finland who are not NATO countries between exercises and Russia.

If anything, this is less provacative than holding exercises in central Europe with Naval Assets in the Baltic. Still sends a message that NATO wont be intimidated.

I thought the same but this is apparently a regularly scheduled operation done every 2 years.  Still dangerous.

FTFA:  Russia has declined to observe the exercise, which is held every two years and is due to end on April 1.

I was going to post something similar in another thread.
True up your finances, keep some cash on hand. The global economy may have a ripple effect when Russia defaults. Could last for a while.
Not meaning, become a prepper tomorrow, just be aware of your wants vs needs and act accordingly.
Buy some war stocks.

The issue is NATO has to have some kindof response. Driving the carriers around in circles while all the sailors do jumping jacks is public enough to say "yeah we can see you there" without having to bomb anyone.

Sorta.  Everyone on the set was sick of trying to film a sword vs whip scene in the heat.  All too often the story gets told as Ford just deciding to do it unannounced but that's clearly not what happened.

Anyone willing to use nukes to hold the world hostage will just keep pushing anyway.

Besides, I'm skeptical the Russians have even been maintaining their nuclear arsenal at this point.  It really looks like any money not allocated for military parades went into super yachts.

I know that you jest, but for a serious answer, the live exercises are to prevent NATO's militaries from being as inept as the Russian military has been in their Ukrainian invasion.  Better to have massive fark-ups during practices that can hopefully be remedied before an actual skirmish than to find out when the adversary is kicking one's ass.
